Door Chime Control

The door chimes every time I open the door, I keep thinking the car is trying to tell me I forgot to turn off the lights or something, but apparently not. It only started to do this recently and I don't recall what I did to trigger the annoying chime. So the question is, what is the chime telling me, if anything, and how do I stop it ? Thanks.

Do you mean the door ajar alarm? This only occurs when the keys are in the ignition. It's that beeping noise.

is this the same noise you are talking about? Or do you mean the "non- beeping" noise you hear when you try to lock the car when the doors are open?

It's not a beep, it's definitely a chime, and it occurs when keys are not in the ignition. For example, when I open the driver door to get into the car it chimes. I'm beginning to think this is normal and I just have never noticed it before.

It chimes if you have your sunroof open. Is it your case?

That must have been it, the chime went away couple days ago and I believe I used the sunroof. It must have been partially open previously and when I used it again I closed it properly that time. Mystery solved (I hope).

make sure that you turn your keys ALL THE WAY counter clockwise when you turn the vehicle off. I have had the same thing occur. The ignition allows you to pull the keys out of the ignition before you have completely turned the key counter clockwise, tricking the car into thinking the keys are still there, hence the chime. Hope this helps. Good Luck

I have been wondering also why I get a chime when I open the door. It was the sunroof being open. Thanks for posting this. But, how useful is a single chime when you open the door to tell you the roof is open when you have to spend an hour researching to see what it means.
