  1. Hello, I'm looking into weight reduction and I'm trying to figure out the weight of the trunk and hood. I plan on replacing both however I've heard from one source that their 2000 IS has a 40 pound hood, another said mine is 80lb. Its a full steel hood so I'm hoping it's heavier than 40 pounds. Thanks.
  2. I was wondering if anyone knows the weight of the hood trunk and doors on a 2002 gs300. I've heard the hood is 80lb and others have said it's 40 lb. Thanks in advance.
  3. I’m debating adding a carbon fiber hood and trunk to my gs300. Possibly more if it really works. However after a bit of digging I’ve seen a mixed basket of opinions. Some saying their carbon fiber was heavier, not lighter and others saying it’s great. I’m not planning on everything becoming carbon fiber but like as I said above hood and trunk just to start. Do any of you have trusted brands you know work? Or sellers on eBay? Thanks!
  4. When I open the trunk on or after a rainy day there is always water driping out from underneath the tail lights. The water comes out of the side of the trunk lid. Is this normal or is some sealing missing or maybe a drain hole clogged?
  5. So my trunk was really full and I tried opening my trunk today. Sometimes when it is full, I've had to use a lot of force. This time, something snapped and I no longer felt resistance when pulling the trunk latch. I removed the panels from the inside and took a look at the opening mechanism. The cable is still intact and i discovered how to open the trunk from the inside. However, there is no connection from the latch to the rest of the locking mechanism. When I used force, there was a part that broke. The first picture shows the part that is broken. The black rubber and plastic parts used to be one part. The elongated plastic part used to be inside the car, while the black plastic part used to be behind the latch on the outside of the car. The square hole near my thumb behind the latch is where the rubber used to sit. The last picture shows where the elongated black plastic part used to connect to. The last picture's orientation is looking up. The black plastic part used to lift the silver metal part extending the wire. The wire would then pull the golden part in the third picture to open the trunk. The fourth picture shows an overall picture. If you look carefully at the fourth picture, there is a black cable that runs down the cavity in the center of the trunk door. That is the same cable that pulls the golden part of the mechanism, opening the door. Essentially, the mechanism is no longer connected due to the broken part. The latch is not connected to the first part of the mechanism and thus, the second part of the mechanism is not working and I cannot open my door from the outside. Anyone know where I can get a replacement part and whether I can install it without opening any screws?
  6. Did anyone mod the rear turnsignal to have a second bulb per side in the part of the taillight that is in the trunkcover? I know it is a long question. To explain it a little better there is this reflector below the back up light that looks like an extension of the turn signal in the outer tail light. I think it would look cool if that part would light up as well.
  7. So i have a problem with my trunk lid. It opens up but it doesnt go up. it just unlocks and i have to manually open it up. im not sure if its the strut since it stays open if i put it up. does anyone have the same problem or an idea of what it might be? thank you. its an 05 ls430 btw.

  9. I'm a new owner of a 2004 ES 330. The Trunk Button did not seem to work on any of the Key Fobs. Tested Truck Button located to the lower left of Steering Wheel, Truck opened, which told me that the electronic truck latch worked. Tested the Glove Box 'valet' protection for the on/off to the lower left of steering wheel button, this worked as well. Another Lexus Owner Club member suggested, hold the Key Fob Trunk Button until the truck opened. Excellent advice IT WORKED !!! I / we kept expecting to push the Key Fob Trunk Button 'quickly' like we did for the door locks, and when that did not work, we assumed somthing was wrong. Solution: HOLD the Key Fob Trunk Button until the Truck pops open.
  10. Can't Open Trunk

Hi Everyone, I have a 1998 ES 300. I loaded some stuff into my trunk earlier today and went to open it again half an hour later but it won't. I checked the button in the glove compartment but that's not it. When I press the button next to the steering wheel I hear a small click everytime it's pushed but nothing. I tried jiggling it open while pressing/holding the button and nothing. The key I have won't open the trunk and the remote key is semi-broken. Is there someway of opening it? Or at least removing the backseats so I can get inside? Any help is appreciated!
