  1. Heres what you need for all 92-94 SC 400 to read your trouble codes...extremely simple to use... http://www.autorepairmanuals.biz/site/573683/page/858113
  2. Sounds like a good idea. Doubt you will have any problem making it 10K more miles. I am pretty sure the opposite is true. I thought they all had interference motors up until 1998. The chart agrees, and I have been told by several people also. The chart came out of the Gates Timing Belt Replacement Guide. I have verified many of the listings in the guide with several different Lexus dealers and mechanics, and it has always proved to be very accurate. Gates is full of %^&*(*$%
  3. If I remember right you use Toyota ATF 1V for the power steering..also you can clean the ICV much better then buying a New One at about 800.00 I've read...good luck
  4. Are your sure you have it threaded properly and it is the correct belt..do hte ribs fit the grooves in the pulleys..?
  5. All SC300 and 400 motors are equiped with engine knock sensors. These sensors !Removed! engine timing to prevent low octane fuel predetonation from damaging the engine. Retarded engine timing means lower performance and lower gas mileage. Soooo.... save $ at the pump and get less HP and lower MPG. Not easy to quantify, but likely an even trade off. I have been using 87 Octane for the past 2 yrs in my SC400 and I have not had any problems at all with my engine..nor have I had any problems with performance....the only thing I have found with premium gas is...burns faster and hotter then regular and less miles per gallon..just like E-85 does in the newer cars..with automatic timing there shouldn't be a problem...and by the way I have had the heads off the engine to check to see if there was any build up of carbon in the engine...NONE..as far as I can see the Oil companies are in with the automakers and want you to burn High grade gas because it makes them more money..the bottom line...the only cars that need premium gas are cars like formula 1's, Ferraris etc. I've had many mechanics tell me this over the years...but I was so afraid to try it thinking it would ruin my engine, but like I said with the New automatic timing in cars controlled by your ECM, shouldn't be a problem.. It's ok if you don't believe me..it's your car, Im just telling you my experience. Good Luck
  6. Very simple...put the DOT on the crankshaft at the 6 PM position...put the timing belt right cam line on the line on the metal bracket behind the timing belt..may be a little hard to see it because it is black but it's there...then do the same on the left cam. There is also a timing mark on the sprocket wheels that will line up with the right and left lines on your belt. When your set..right side should be pointing at 1 PM....left should be pointing at 11 AM and the crank should be pointing right on or just a little off the 6 PM position...put everything back together, should start right up. One thing you will have to take the timing belt tentioner off and reset it, before putting it back on...then release the tension..after you have everything in position. Good Luck hope this helped...
  7. LEXTECH is just like baseball... NO Phone number to call.....to check on your order or if you have problems with your order after you receive it. STRIKE 1 No answers to your E_MAIL's ...One excuse I got one time was..You must have given me the wrong E-Mail address...BS all he had to do was hit the REPLY button..you don't need to put in a e-mail address... STRIKE 2 NO Warranty given.................A BIGGIE.....should get 2 STRIKES for this one...and an error.....STRIKE 3 That means YOUR OUT !!!!!!!!!!
  8. The lights look great...however, the projectors send the light into the sky...not on the pavement in front of you..and there is NO way of adjusting them...SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!! Original is the only way to fly here....!!!!
  9. You probably have too many miles on it..just won't register anymore....
  10. http://www.clublexus.com/forums/member.php?u=13879 maybe he can help? I tried to tell yopu cats on here....don't use Lextech...problems just like yours and many others..there are other places in this country that does work on these clusters...just as good, even better and gives a warranty...to boot., I know I got screwed to by them.
  11. Check the MAF sensor..I had the same problem with my 93 and it corrected it. But, before going out and spending all that money.take it to the dealer and get a diagnostic test..to find out what code it's throwing..it should be throwing a code 34 I think, if that's it. You also, may want to go to codereader.com and order a OBD 1 code reader for a 1983 - 1995 Toyota/Lexus. They are only about 30 bucks and you can read your own codes by the flashing check engine light on your dash...the book that comes with the code reader will show you how to read the codes on your dash. I think you can also find these on amazon.com. If you don't want to spend the money for a New One go to car-parts.com and you can find good working ones with warranty there. Good Luck ..hope this helps...
  12. I found a very good place for ordering LED Lights for your car, espacially if you use 1156, 1157 and 194 lights. They are VERY Expensive but they are very nice also. Highly recommended if you can afford them. Go to superbrightleds.com Good Luck
