Did you ever solve the problem of the door locks not working when the car is hot? I have an '01 LS430 and have experienced the same problem the last two summers. It is also an Arizona car. I'm beginning to think a computer box is getting hot, but that is a wild guess. Could you let me know?

They no longer operate, but I can hear the motors whirr when I start the car. The mirror housing is now loose from the base attached to the car on one side. The other side acts like the gears are stripped. The dealer is telling me the operating pieces have broken tabs (whatever that means.) The dealer does not repair pieces inside the mirror, but rather to replace the entire unit. It appears to me that something is certainly broken.

I need to replace the side mirrors on my 01 Lexus LS430. Since my Lexus dealer wants $1,400 to do this, I've decided maybe I had better find another way. Can someone give me instructions for removing the door panel and then the mirrors. Also how do you remove and replace the glass in the mirrors? Thanks for any help.
