  1. Is there some sort of big parts list PDF? I'm looking for a clip that holds the drivers side door's electrical panel (windows, locks etc buttons) in place. Apparently my car didn't have one when I bought it and the panel was glued in place. Lame, because the glue broke. I've looked at the big tech manual but I don't think this would be in there.
  2. Does anyone have the owners manual as a single file?
  3. I'm using a cassette adapter right now to get tunes from my phone to my stereo. It works OK, but the cassette adapter is really inconsistent, sometimes it'll drop out part of the signal -- due to the autoreverse probably. Anyway, wondering about my options and wondering if anyone here has successfullly added a line-in to their stock stereo. I'm not really interested in going aftermarket with the stereo, the guys at the local car stereo chain say that you have to do X Y and Z to get an aftermarket stereo in an IS because of the speakers being odd (satellite? coax? something like that). Also aftermarket = theft magnet in my book. 2001 Lexus IS300, CD player but not a CD changer
  4. Have you driven a car with tints before? I hadn't until I bought my 01 and I'm not really in love with tinted windows anymore. I think they look nice from the outside but the dark tints decrease your visibility by a lot.
  5. I was thinking it'd be sweet if it works, I can't imagine why this car has a cassette player. Maybe it's because of minidiscs in Japan and they knew that a minidisc player would be worthless here so they had to put something there. Anyway, I wonder if anyone has one of these in their IS300 and how the thing's treating you? There's lots of types out there, many of em look like crap. This one looks decent: http://www.amazon.com/Maxell-CD-330-CD-to-...845&sr=8-12
  6. How's the sound quality on that wired cassette adapter? I think that bluetooth cuts the bitrate a bit, based on signal quality, so it's got a built in handicap. The sound on the cassette might actually sound better though. My only issue here is that I can't plug a power cord and a headphone into my G1 at the same time (lame!). But I'd call that a pretty minor issue, just have to make sure the phone is charged before I go on a road trip.
  7. Ah, so the guys who go out of there way to buy JDM are the same guys that buy a $5000 amp to listen to CDs. Gotcha. I think I'll pass in that case. Thanks for explaining it.
  8. I'm not sure what JDM means... is JDM a good thing? I think I'll try and find a local junkyard that has an IS300, then hit the online shops. Either way I'll probably just get the replacement of the existing part. I just bought tires today so I'm not into putting more money into the car for a while :)
  9. Best I could find was still $100. Seems like a lot for some plastic. Off to the junkyard I go!
  10. Hmm, dash tray? http://www.l-tunedparts.com/product/?id=59 but $150+, don't know if I want a place for my sunglasses quite that badly.
  11. I've got a whistling sound when I'm at freeway speeds. It's probably from the sunroof. Is this something I can fix myself? I've seen other threads about fixing this but not specific to this car.
  12. Hi, me again. I've got a few small problems on this car that need to be fixed, I've searched and not found the answers. Next up, the hole in the dash. Apparently previous-previous owner had a sat radio installed and took it out when he sold it. So I've got 3 holes in the top of the center dash. There's a little wall kinda thing there, in front of the soft pad (what's that pad for?). Options? Ideally I'd get a piece of rounded black plastic and just glue it over the three holes. I suppose I could put a GPS there, but I have GPS on my phone and I'm not sure if I want to put an invitation for people to break in to the car right there where it's so easy to see. Maybe I can just buy a replacement dash piece?
  13. Just bought an 01 IS300. It came with the stock stereo. Well I found out that the CD player doesn't work. Apparently no one (including the car inspector) checked it! The guy I bought it from says he never used it, only had the car for 4 months. Anyway, I'm considering just buying a stock stereo to replace it. Why? Because no one breaks in to steal a stock stereo. And I hate having to mess with removing a faceplate. I guess in an ideal world I'd have a car stereo with a USB input and just use my phone as a jukebox. But I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars to make my car more attractive to thieves. My last car (90 Acura) had 3 stereos stolen out of it. If I want to buy a stock stereo where's a good place to start? Used would be great. I've heard that car stereos these days are much less likely to get stolen (read it on slate), is that accurate? If I do buy a new one, do I have to buy a double DIN?
  14. I just bought an 01 IS300. It's got a dash kit, brownish carbon fiber. Well I'd like to switch out the dash kit eventually, but for now I just need to remove a piece of it that looks bad. The piece is the top piece in the center of the dash. It's damaged, portions of it have peeled off of the base, it just looks lame. I think it'd look fine without this piece. So, how to get this thing off without causing damage? Goof off? Lighter fluid? Something else? What can I use to pry the piece off without doing damage? I searched for this but didn't find it.
