  1. Summit Auto Service and Spectrum Performance both in Decatur, GA. Summit off of E. Ponce de Leon near Progressive Auto Insurance Adjuster and Enterprise Leasing. Spectrum on Talley St. between E. College Ave. and Columbia Drive.
  2. Had to replace both side mirrors on my 2002 LS430 purchased in 2003. Passenger mirror and housing replacement covered under dealer's warranty and driver mirror and housing replacement covered by Lexus "Good Faith" one-time warranty. Used to keep mirrors on auto setting. Problems were mirrors would not return to correct setting or they wouldn't retract open. The mirrors got stuck in the downward tilt when in reverse. The other problem was the mirror housing would not retract open. I'm reluctant to retract the mirror housings for fear they don't retract open.
  3. My 2002 LS430 started "passing air" a few years ago while it was still under warranty; it hisses rather than gurgles. A tech at the Henessey dealer on PIB said it was normal for the expansion valve to release air. Well, I didn't like their answer since the hissing didn't happen when I got the car used in 2003. I took it to Summit (on Dekalb Industrial Way) off of E Ponce de Leon in Decatur where they specialize in all Japanese makes and models. One of the owners, Mr. Te, drove it with me and he confirmed what the dealer told me. The hiss is annoying but my AC sytem is working fine, knock on wood. Besides Summit, a friend takes his one-of-a-kind IS300 to a service team off of Talley St. just behind the Avondale MARTA station. He's a racing fanatic and his guys do high-performance work. I think it's Spectrum Performance. BTW, I'm a female who tries to understand everything about my car. Anything that doesn't make sense causes me to do research. I don't like it when the dealer's service "advisor" talks down to me because I'm female.
  4. :P I'm embarrassed to admit my own ignorance. I played around with the map display and tried the magnifying glass with the plus sign "+". Evidently, the battery jumpstart process caused the electrical system to activate the magnifying glass with the minus sign "-" as the default view which I'm guessing means show less details on the map. To have the surface streets reappear on the map, press the magnifying glass with the plus sign to add details. My bad.

  6. I'm a brand new member (March 28, 2009) discovering this forum. I've searched for answers to my 2002 LS430 GPS problem to no avail. I have never updated my GPS system so it still uses the 2001 version. On Mar. 21, I used my GPS system which displayed the surface streets as well as the main highways. On Mar. 22 I used my LS430 to jump start a 1992 Cadillac and succeeded. I did notice the large amount of corrosion on my battery posts so I cleaned it off with a baking soda/water solution. When I was going to use my GPS on Mar. 26, I pressed the 'I Agree' button to display the map. Well, none of the street lines and names appear. Only the main highways. Also, suburb names have suddenly appeared. Can anyone help me restore the street names? I've considered the GPS upgrade to 2008 and am wondering if this is my only solution. Thanks in advance for any advice.
