  1. 1994 SC400 2nd Owner Paided $7500 for it in 2008 w/ 62000 miles $890 steering rack, b/c the dealer claimed it was leaking and wouldn't let it pass inspection $400 Driverside Window drive chain assembly $300 spark plugs, fluid flush and tune up Tinted the windows Bought OEM Chromes for $1000, looks beautiful. The next to tackle is the Nakamichi Sound System, which like many others out there has some issues with age. The issues are as follows: 1. When turning the volume button I experience a static like sound. Is this similar to a normal stereo where this sound results from dust in or around the amp? If not does anyone have any suggestions? 2. The right rear mid speaker buzzes occasionally when playing music, my assumption is it is blown, however the lack of buzzing the entire time causes me to be unsure. 3. The left rear mid is completely silent. Is this from a disconnect, or is a channel blown on the amp? So with these issues, how to I go about testing and checking the amp...should I do it myself or go to a respectable car stereo shop? What are the best alternatives to the original Nak as far as replacing speakers goes? (For $150 or less for the rear mids as that is the price from the dealer for new Nak speakers)

  3. Crazy car man, I don't know how people like you can do it, but its an inspiration.
  4. I have driven both, and while the sc300 with the manual is fun... the bellow and punch of the V8 cannot be matched. The V8 in the SC is the same as the LS400, which Toyota spent hundreds of millions developing. I know for sure that if reliability is a concern, the first generation 92-94 is the most reliable. Also for the 94 and maybe the 93, you get better safety features, and larger brakes. The late models 98-00 have more punch and VVT-i, but in my opinion the addition of the small front grille and metal rimmed taillights kind of takes away from the timeless form. I bout mine two years ago for $7500 with 62000 miles, so there old and good ones are out there. As far as repairs are concerned, always consult with another mechanic, instead of going to your local Lexus dealer, while its comforting knowing that the techs are trained specifically fro your car, the price premium is not worth it. I wish you luck in finding your own beauty.
  5. anybody out there with ideas...i know there are some crazy gear heads in this forum
  6. Hello all SC fans. At present my 94 SC400 is completely stock, but I am looking to increase output to 300-400 hp. What are the most affordable, and least harmful engine mods that can help me achieve this? Thanks
  7. 95 Ford Thunderbird (Fix Or Repair Daily) 91 Lexus LS400...drunk driver t-boned me in an intersection at about 2 in the afternoon
  8. Thanks for the info pdf....I forgot to mention the wheels that are on my car right now are aftermarkets put on by the previous owner..turns out the brand is sold at sears but anyone else know if 1990-1994 lexus oem wheels were forged? or any other wheel production process?
  9. I was wondering if anybody could tell me if Lexus stock wheels for my 1994 SC400 are forged, gravity cast, etc.....and also why oem from the dealer is $1500 for a new set of four. Does anyone have any good suggestions for where to go to purchase halfway affordable chrome OEM wheels? And also what the stock finishes were for any of the 1st gen 1990-1994 Lexi wheels? Thanks
