  1. I am looking for an 18 X 8.5 SSR GT7 Wheel(s). These were discontinued by SSR but hoping some of you might have one or more. These are 7-spoke wheels, aluminum look. 5X114.3 with .50 offset. If you have or know of any for sale please contact me. texpharm77@yahoo.com. Thanks
  2. I have a 1997 LS400 with 180K miles - runs great, plenty of power and I love it. That said, I also have a 2000 LS400 that makes the 97 look anemic. The 2000 has more horsepower, torque and a 5 speed tranny. It is also true pleasure to drive, just like the 97. If I were to do it again, I would get a 1998-2000 version. The 97 feels more solid though. Texas Big Dog
  3. 174,778 on my 97 LS 400 42K on my wifes 2000 LS 400
  4. My 1997 has 161,000 and change - runs great! My wife 2000 has 28,000 and change - it runs even better. Great cars! TexasBigDog
  5. I drive about 1,500 hiway miles per week and I consistently get between 25-26mpg on my 1997 LS400 with 158K miles. Interesting, in far west Texas the speed limit is 80 mph on I-10 and get better mileage at that speed than I do at 65-70 and it seems to run smoother. Might be there are no hills out there. I also notice I get better gas mileage with Valero or Shell than I do with other brands. TexasBigDog :D 1997 LS400 158K miles 2000 LS400 28K miles
  6. Hello out there, The power radio antenna on my 97 LS400 has given up the ghost. I dismantled it, the toothed nylon cord that extends and retracts the mast is broken. I have in extended mode and it works well, just a problem at car washes etc. Questions: 1. Can that nylon cord be replaced or do I need to scrap the entire unit. 2. Where can you get the unit other than dealer - not many on Ebay for sale 3. What other year models use the same unit 4. Has anyone tried a generic until Thanks Texas Big Dog 97 LS400 158K miles 00 LS400 25K miles
  7. Thanks for the info - will this process work with 97 models - my key is not integrated with the key fob. Anyone have the instructions for a 97 LS400?
  8. Hello, I just bought a 2000 LS400 Platinum Edition with only 24K documented miles. The car has been driven 19K of those miles since late in 2001. an elderly gentleman bought it new and drove it weekly, just not very far. My question is about the age of the timing belt. I would be worried if the car had just sat for years without being driven. However, its been about 2,500 miles per year. Any thoughts on the need to replace a 9-year old timing belt with 24K miles. Thanks In Advance TexasBigDog 1997LS400 - 157K miles 2000LS400 - 24K miles
  9. Hope you guys can help me with this. I have done a search but see no discussion on this problem! I have my oil changed at the local Toyota Dealership. This weekend the technician that did the oil change told me the internal threads on the oil pan were stripped and drain pan bolt was not going to hold well; probably over tightened by someone he claims. After reminding him that his dealership had done all the oil changes, he suggested the only solution to this problem was a new oil pan? Can this problem be solved by tapping the oil pan threads for a new larger bolt. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Texas Big Dog 1997 LS400 - 140K miles
  10. Hello, 1997 LS400 with 134K miles. One of the dash indicator lights is glowing and my owners manual says that it is warning for rear tail lights being out or bad. However, everything works fine...running, brake and turn signal all function properly. Don't understand the warning light. Has anyone else had this problem? How did you get the light to go out. Thanks TexasBigDog
  11. Help...I have a warning light on my dash illuminated and the owners manual says it indicates the rear tail lights are bad. However, they are not..running lights, brake lights and turn signals all function perfectly.. Anyone had this problem - false warning? How did you resolve it? Thanks TexasBigDog
  12. I have good luck using a solution of 1-part Pinesol with 2-parts hot water in a spray bottle of garden sprayer. On a luke warm engineNOT HOT, spray the solution on, let it set for about 10-minutes then rinse with hose...don't spray it, just low pressure out of the hose. Of course you don't want to drown you electronic. You can then wipe it down with a cotton rag. Makes your engine look great. Also, have used GOOP hand cleaner on a rag to dress plastic covers and hoses.. This works well too! Good Luck, TexasBigDog
  13. Hello all, I am a new Lexus owner. Just bought a 97 LS400 with 118K miles. I took it in to get a baseline service so I would know what had and had not been done to the car in the past. Timing belt and water pump was replaced a 109K. Replaced fluids, belts, hoses and spark plug. Mechanic told me it did not need shocks/struts, wheel bearings or a fuel filter. These items don't last this long on regular cars....the mechanic told me I might never have to replace the shocks/struts or wheel bearing. Hard to believe! What has been other owners experience with these items. Thanks
  14. I have purchased many cars on ebay and never ever had a problem. There are inpection services available in almost any city in the country that will go see the car, video it, drive etc. They will give you a comprehensive report for $150-$250 depending on location. One I have used frequently is thru www.carsonline.com. May be www. cars-on-line.com. Anyway, they give you a very thorough inspection of the car and will check out anything you ask them too....good luck!
  15. Pardon my ignorance....what is the ECT fuse...I do not see it listed by that name in my owners manual. Is that the OBDII fuse for diagnostics...Is it in the box under the hood or on drives side compartment. What does ECT stand for? Thanks The car is running great, will it hurt it to drive it very far? He meant the EFI fuse. However, as dcfish suggested, pulling the battery terminal works just fine too. Those suggestions did the trick! Thanks everyone. Before Seafoam car was getting right at 25mpg at hiway speed (70-75 mph). First tank after seafoam it got 22.6mpg ( with CEL on). First tank after ECT reset it got 26.3mpg...All of this on one long highway trip. Don't know what caused the fluctuations, seafoam, brand of gas, or CEL.. Anyway! Thanks
