  1. Here's the deal, the dealer will replace the tip which is welded to the resonator. The resonater is the final section of your exhaust system. This part lists for $270, however can be purchased online for slightly less. The part can also be easily installed by you if you are so inclined. If you are ONLY concerned about the way the rusted tip looks, then you can go to your nearest performance autopart store to fine a nice chrome/stainless tip that will slide over the existing tip and the bolt/clamp will hold this on for years. You shouldnt need professional help with the later. Best of luck! Reeltime
  2. Update, I had a mechanic look into this leak, amazes me that nobody appears to have seem to ever have had this problem given the location of the Suction Hoze..it sits right on top of the chassis right in the middle of the wheel well. This tight area is great to catch all water, salt and road debris and sits there for many years, rotting the aluminum tubing. $1500 will take care of this issue. Thanks for reading Reeltime
  3. I hope I understand your question on the roof rack cover. I trust you are referring to the plastic cover on each endof the roof rack, so that you can access the mounting bolts. If so, all you need to do is gently slide a thin tool such as a medium flathead screwdriver around the bottom seam above the hard rubber base. Gently pry up and move around the cover and it will ultimately "pop" off. To reinstall the cover, just line it over the hard rubber base and hit it with your hand or a rubber mallet with a rag over the cover to avoid any marks. Best of luck!
  4. Hello All and Thank you for reading. Upon recharging my AC for the season in a 1999 LX470, I noticed a leak in the "suction hose", the leak is just above the rear passenger tire, leading into the rear AC. Any ideas as to how to remove this hose and if ther are anyone here that have had the same issue. The part can be bought online for under $100, however at first glance, appears to be a difficult job. Any assistance on this fix would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Reeltime
  5. Just my luck, after days of searching online - I decided to bite the bullet and just order a complet OEM rack. However they no longer sell the the roof rack kit. Now you have to buy it by the parts and that will exceed $2000. I told the parts manager that I will be using duck-tape before I drop $2000 on a roof rack just so I can mount my old thule ski rack. Im hoping theres someone on this site that have upgraded to an aftermarket rack and have the old one around for sale. Thank you all again.
  6. Thank you for your suggestion but the main reason for this rack is to be able to mount what I already have for a ski rack. Thanks.
  7. :DHello All, In new to Lexus and this forum..just purchased a used 1999 LX470 with 33,000 miles. First use car since I was 16 years old. To be honest this suv drives better than any new car that I have ever owned. I needed a car for winter skiing with the family, however this rare find of mine did not come with a roof rack. I se on this site, several of you may have taken the OEM rack off. If so, please let me know if anyone has one for sale or perhaps where I can find one outside of the dealer for $800. Thank you.
