  1. While I too, have over 100,000 miles on my 2004 RX330 (125,000), I attribute this as much to my maintaining the vehicle as much as Lexus quality. I've had quite a few other brands over the years that have gone over 110k. I have had this car in the shop more than any car I have ever owned. Transmission, mirror falling off, exterior window trim fell off, brakes shimmying etc. etc. Presently, the roof rattles like crazy at highway speeds, the paint is chipping like mad on the front, all the dash warning lights come on at once periodically, the buttons fall of which hold the glove box in place etc. etc. I highly regret having bought this car, at over $40k.
  2. Safety belts are warranted for life per government regulations. Call a Lexus dealer and arrange for the part to be replaced, at no charge.
  3. Nope - Just the shifter panel. Guess you're right, a loose bulb.......Now if I could only figure out how to get to it!
  4. On my 2004 RX330, the lights that are on the shifting console do not come on, about half the time. It can't be a fuse, since they do work some of the time. Any ideas?
  5. Just curious where you ordered the switch from, and how much it cost? I've had the same issue on my 2004 RX330 for several years. About once a month or so, all the lights will come on for no apparent reason. Once the ignition is switched off, the lights clear up, and dont show up again until the next time. I've not bothered with it, since I know its not a real problem. I might take the time and effort to replace the switch, though, if it's not an arm and a leg; and if it's not a huge problem to replace it.
  6. I have the same year and model RX330. I had the same problem with my rear wiper and was very frustrated when trying to wash the car since the wiper wouldnt move. One day I forgot it didn't come up and gave it a good tug. Something went snap, and I thought I had broken it. However, I had only loosened or broke whatever was holding the dang thing down. It now goes all the way up for cleaning, but still works fine. This probably doesn't help, but I wanted to share it with you.
  7. Just passed 115,000 on my 2004. The biggest problem was when it was new, the transmission did not shift right. I must have had it back to the dealer a dozen times, before they finally loaded a version of the ecm software that fixed the problem. I was surprised and disappointed that they argued with me about it. Current issues are a loud rattling noise from the roof at highway speeds, and all the warning lights come on occasionally while going down the road. The lights go out once the ignition is turned off, and the problem doesn't recur for months. It still rides and drives like a luxury car. I wouldn't buy or recommend another Lexus, though, based on the bad experience with service.
  8. I did a search on this forum before posting this. When my 2004 RX330 was new, I noticed a rattle coming from somewhere outside on the roof. This happens above about 50 mph. There was a TSB issued on roof rattles, and the dealer assured me that the problem was fixed. Although this improved the problem, it still occurred, and now that the car is 5 years old and out of warranty, the rattle is much worse. Has anyone found a fix for this problem? I connected the front and rear cross-members of the roof rack with a couple of bungy cords to see if they were the issue. The rattle continued, even though the rack was quite secure and tight with those cords. I then pressed a couple of small rubber grommets under the bottom of the rear spoiler, as it seemed like the rattle could be coming from that area. Still have a rattle. I believe that the noise is coming from outside, as opposed to within the moon roof area. I am open to any suggestions. I hate to pay Lexus $100+ per hour to find an inherent problem with their vehicle. Thank You.
  9. I did a search and came up with this. It looks to be the same problem, and they posted pictures and everything on the solution. Good Luck! http://clublexus.com/forums/rx-first-gener...-and-video.html
  10. I have the same issue with my 2004 RX330. It started happening soon after the warranty expired, and has been doing it for a couple years now. It only happens every month or 2 or 3. I do what you said - next time I get the opportunity, I turn the key off and restart. Problem goes away. It's nothing to worry about, IMHO.
  11. I have the Michelin's on my 2004 RX330, which has the 18" wheels. This is the second set of Michelins and I am not thrilled with the mileage. I think I got about 40k miles on the first set, which is considerably less than the 75k or so that I get on my wife's Honda CRV. I think it has to do with these 18" wide profile tires being softer rubber. That said, I must say that they ride so much nicer than the Goodyears that came with it, there is no comparison. I pay more for the luxury, but then I did that when I bought the Lexus. Tire Rack makes it very easy to find the tires for your car. If you select 2004, then Lexus, it gives you the option of 17 vs. 18 inch wheels. From there, they give you a dozen or more tire options for that wheel. I used their option of selecting a local installer, and they shipped the tires directly to the installer. I knew beforehand what the installation price was going to be. Even though the installer sells the tires themselves, they were very cordial with my business. I saved about $200 going with Tire Rack.
  12. WOW! Great pictures! Unfortunately, the changed the design for the RX330. They are completely different than the RX300. Thanks for the response, though.

  14. Can anyone tell me how to access the bulbs? They appear to be completely covered. I could use step-by-step instructions, or even pictures would be great. The bulbs are failing intermittently, and I assume that replacing the bulbs and cleaning the contacts will resolve the problem.
