Planning to buy 2017 RX 450 in lieu of 2017 RX350 for reason due to 8 spd transmission & possible related problems. Are there good reason not to buy 17 RX450h?

Any partial answers/comments to my ealier note (as follows) are appreciated. VSC Light & engine lite came on for no apparent reason. Live in Raleigh, NC. Is this an immediate safety issue? Is this a common problem? Is this a warranty issue for 16,500 miles? Otherwise is this only correctable at the dealer?

I live in Raleigh, NC and my car is outside most of the year. The front roof rack plastic (?) sheathing has cracked on the underside of the rail to the extent that it flaps in the wind. Should this be expected or is this a warranty issue? Back rail seems O.K.(?)
