  1. I just installed KYB strut assemblies for the rear. They don't sell one for the front but the camry uses the same components (strut and strut mount) and they sell an assembly for that for a slightly lower price for the two pieces but they include the spring and it is all put together. I'm tempted to buy the camry parts. Haven't driven the car enough but no clunks. 2007 es350.
  2. I would have thought all the bolts on this car would be metric, but when I did a brake job on my 07 ES350, the bolts needed to push off the brake rotors were 3/8 coarse thread. I was almost getting ready to go out and buy some metric bolts, but decided to try some bolts from the bin. Was doing the brake job because the rear inner pads were worn (both sides) and the first stop from high speed (>75) always caused a shake in the steering wheel. Replaced rotors and pads. 60K miles.
  3. Have your front end alignment checked. You may have too much camber and/or toe in. If you have an IS-F, typically, you bought it for performance. In that case, you shoud be buying high performance summer tires. If not, sell the car and get an IS-350.
  4. I've noticed phenomenal mileage when cruising at 45-50 mph. I could watch the tank mpg going up. There is no way I would travel that speed driving on a freeway unless that was the prevailing speed at the time. I would either go the speed limit or a smidgen over, just for survivability. After all, what good is great economy if you get rear-ended by someone in a rush and never get to where you're going? My $.02, anyway.
  5. I thought that tire rotation was a part of the 5K mile service. I did the 35K and rotated the unused spare to the RR. No problem with the TPMS.
  6. Makes you wonder why it was always premium before and not "recommended for more power". Do they think we all have excess money to spend on gas? In other countries where the gas is much more expensive, I would assume the difference between regular and premium would be greater. Is (or was) premium gas also recommended? Just curious.
  7. As I understand, the 2011 ES350 recommends regular gas. The same engine in the older cars had a recommendation of premium. Does any one know if anything different was done to the engine? I know people say they've done comparisons and most stay with premium whereas others just go with the regular, as long as it seems to run OK. With a 30 cent disparity between regular and premium, I've been considering dropping to mid-grade.
  8. Many cars are 2-3 mph high. If you go to the BMW forums, someone is always complaining about how inaccurate the speedometer is. I'd prefer an accurate one myself, but there's not much an individual can do when the manufacturer insists upon doing it the wrong way. You just have to get used to it.
  9. I think this is an example of why some people shouldn't change their oil.
  10. I would have thought it would be relatively easy to put a dim LED somewhere up there so you know where to aim your finger. Why the engineers didn't think about it, I have no idea. After having shut off the light by mistake a whole bunch of times, my finger has finally learned about where the GDO switch is. It still makes a mistake occasionally.
  11. You could always buy a battery tender to keep the battery charged. Porsche guys use them all the time on their garage queens.
  12. Make sure the lug nuts are torqued to spec.
  13. Have you checked out TireRack? You don't have to buy from them but you'll get an idea what's available.
  14. No one mentioned turning off the abs. There are two push buttons down there, one is to reset the TPMS, the other is to shut off the headlight turning mechanism.
