  1. Your signature says ES300, You post a RX topic in the GS forum, Which is it ??? Sorry-should have paid more attention. We have all 3 and the question is about the RX...
  2. I have what sounds like a vacuum leak somewhere around the air filter box-but no check engine light. When I say "around", I mean from the right side of the engine over. Anyone else have this problem before I go nuts? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...
  3. Did you apply the brake and make sure all 3 brake lights are working? Don't forget center one. All 3 lights are working......as well as all lights in the 3rd light... When you start your your car is the indicator on immediately, or does it come on after after you hit the brake pedal? This will tell you if it is a brake light or a running light. It looks like the warning system works on resistance and sometimes it's just a dirty connection causing it to trip even though the bulbs are on. Try reseating all the bulbs. Another thing, sometimes after market bulbs will cause the indicator to trip (especially the long life ones). Pay particular attention to the center brake light. For some reason that is often the culprit. PS; What's the status of your trans? Thanks for the input. As for the transmission, I dropped the pan and cleaned the filter (there was sludge all in it) and it is running better. It doesn't shift as hard when cold from 1st-2nd gear but it still isn't right. When it is warmed up it runs like a champ. Any suggestions? I read a post from someone that was having the same problem and they replaced the pump and everything was fine. Could this be a shudder problem? I read your other post about your transmission and the felt filter-wow. Who knew? Is the Mobil 1 synthetic compatible with T-IV fluid...?

  6. WWest..Thank you so much for your advice. My Lexus just developed thesame problem today. Other windows work except the Driver's...What was the problem and how was it fixed.... My RX300 (2000) had intermittent problem on the front passenger side. It came up and down intermittently using either power switches (passenger/driver sides). After several tries even removed the window motor, I found that the problem was the power switch on the passenger side. i went to a Junk yard bought one for $50 and the problem was fixed. How did you fix it? Mine is doing the same thing.......
  7. I have a light on my dash that is on and I don't know what it is or how to fix it. It is the light that shows the image of the car and it looks like the taillights/backup lights need replacing but they don't. Is this an electrical problem? thx...
  8. My driver side window won't roll down in my 2000 RX 300. How do you get to the switch to replace it? thx...
  9. Did 3 drain and fills and it was running fine until today. When cold (1st thing in the morning) the transmission is shifting hard btwn 1st and 2nd slipping btwn 2nd and 3rd......is it gone? Dropped the pan and cleaned the filter. It had alot of sludge on it with fine shavings in bottom of pan. Sludge was all over the 3 magnets. Cleaned pan and filter and took it for a test drive around the block and it drove good. Where is the sludge coming from and what is it?
  10. The CEL problem was fixed. Forgot to put hose on the air filter box when I put the MAF sensor back on after cleaning. Thanks for your input. I think I will be dropping the pan to see if the filter is clogged.......... <_<
  11. I have a 96 es300 personally. These questions are regarding my wife's rx300...
  12. This forum is great! I am having problems out of my 2000 RX300 transmission and am a green diy'er. -What are the signs (symptoms) of having the wrong ATF in your transmission and how long would it take to rear it's ugly head? -Are there some good compatible fluids out there that won't give any trouble? I know the corporate answer at Toyota/Lexus is to use Toyota T-IV but there are plenty of transmission failure posts from people that serviced their transmissions with that-to no avail. -Is flashing the transmission computer a possible option to fixing the transmission problem that I am having with shifting? Thx.....
  13. Yes. Both Mobil 3309 and Mobil Multi Vehicle trans fluid are Toyota TypeT-IV compatible. They are synthetic blends same as T-IV is. The Multi vehicle is new and may be hard to find. I ended up using Mobil 1 full synthetic, which I don't really recommend for everyone as it's not currently listed as T-IV compatible. We were talking last month about my transmission issues. I have done 3 drain and fills with T-IV fluid and it has not fixed the problem. Should I just flush and refill with this and get new metal filter? I am not sure the shop here put in a metal filter when they flushed and put the wrong fluid in it...
  14. I read somewhere in one of these threads that this could be used instead of type T-IV fluid. Is this true?
  15. I just bought a 2001 GS 300 and have noticed that it "stumbles" sometimes when in reverse. Any suggestions?
