  1. I am not an automobile technician but I have a sense of awareness when things changed: I just traded in my 2005 GX470 for a new 2007 GX470. They both do not have the wheezing sound until after the service at the dealer. My 2005 GX470 was quiet until the engine mounts were replace at 64,000 miles. My 2007GX470 was even quieter until after they installed the integrated satellite radio behind the dashboard at 100 miles. I do not know why the radio installation could cause the wheezing sound but I was able to reduce the wheezing sound by: 1) filling the tank with Shell’s V-Power gasoline 2) reducing the speed during acceleration. Maybe the sound is related to how we drive and/or the grade of the gasoline.
  2. Is your issue fixed? My 2005 GX470 (64K miles) has the same problem except that the vibration comes and goes without pattern. What is your mileage?
  3. First of all, happy July 4th!!! Does your GX vibrate at idle? Well, sometimes my 2005 GX470 (64K) will idle fine and smooth and then other times it will be a little rough. I can feel it through the steering wheel and the seat. The rough idle comes and goes. I did notice the RPM drops and increases back and forth. There's no pattern except when the engine is cold, the idle is almost always smooth. Does anyone think the Idle Control Valve might cause this? Thanks in advance with your comment......
  4. Hey TVJR, my 2005 GX470 (64K miles) has the exact same problem as yours described from above post. The Lexus dealer told me they cleaned all the possible parts that may cause the vibration at idle but my GX still vibrates at idle. They think that is normal but I would like to test drive another 2005 with over 60K on it. What is your mileage?
  5. i was wondering if you got your idle prob fixed....heres a trick to tell ... start up your car in the drive way put the car into drive (while foot on the break) watch the RMP does it drop slowly ? NOW turn the ac on med or high >>>>watch the RMP DOes the RMP rise back up slowly? if so this has nothing to do with motor mounts or tranmision mounts. Can you please explain what could be the problem of the rough idle? I would like to know because my Lexus GX470 vibrates at idle.
  6. Just want to keep the audience informed that I took my GX to the Lexus dealer for the clunking problem. After they applied the TSB fix for the clunking drive shaft, vibration from the pedals are gone as well as the engine clunking sound. It rides really smooth. However, my car is in the dealer now for a different reason. The car has a little rough idle that I can feel it from the seats and the steering wheel. The vibration from the GX gets a little bit stronger when the A/C is turned on. I wonder if it is time to do the engine valves clearance or perhaps it is normal because it has 64K on it or maybe something is loose..............
  7. I enjoy this car but except for the vibration when it comes to a stop or during initial take-off. The vibration is not much but it is noticeably enough to be unpleasant. I only got this car 2 days! The vibration from the door and the seat were probably caused by the idle of the engine. Perhaps I need to use Shell’s premium V-Power gasoline. Is it possible that the air in the brake and accelerator fluid causes the short period of vibration? I think my best bet is to bring the car back to Lexus and have them check. The problem is that my car is not certified. I have to pay all cost. I spent $39,500 for this used car and I am not expecting to spend thousands of dollars to fix it within a week of purchase and it might not be fixed. I went to Lexus and spent extra money to buy a car from them was because I wanted a reliable used car. Otherwise, I could buy it from a mom-and-pop shop or even from ebay. Thank you for your feedback.
  8. i doubt that majority of 05 GX owners might experience them, but my service tech told me of the "normal" defects of this vehicle. 1. vibration 2. clunk (says that 95% of GX470s have that, even till now) those are the major ones to look out for. Hi denslexusgx470, I just bought a pre-own 2005 GX470 (64k miles) from a local Lexus dealer. What vibration are you refering to? I posted my problems at http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=38420
  9. Hi I am new to this forum. I just bought a pre-own 2005 GX470 (64,000 miles) from a Lexus Dealer located in Plano, TX on Saturday, 6/23/2007. During the 10 minutes test drive, nothing happened, everything went well. 1) After purchasing the car, they filled up the gas tank and immediately I felt inconsistent shaking coming from the driver seat and door while stopping at the intersection. It felt like the engine was choking and about to go off but it never went off. There was no noise associated with the vibration. 2) After driving over 15 minutes or so on my way home, the "accelerator pedal" vibrates/shakes during the initial takeoff at low speed. Once the car is almost at a completely stop at low speed, the "brake pedal" also shakes/vibrates for a short period of time. Again, there were no noise associated with the vibration/shakes. Does anyone encounter similar problems? Can anyone offer any resolution/suggestion? Thank you. Victor J
  10. If GX470 changes its look/shape like cross-over, i would not consider buying it for my next future car....:cries:
