  1. Water in the cyclender chamber is a blown head gasket. You might notice your oil is little cloudy also. and may be white smoke from your exhaust if it's really bad. (burning antifreez). The cause of all this could me many things like bad fan relay or temp sending unit. Fan not comming on. Thermostat sticking or bad. Water pump... on and on. Sory for the bad new. You can have the radiator check to see if you have exhauast gas in it. That will say for sure if your in big trouble or not. Get estimates from dealer and a trust 3 party shop.
  2. Hello Texas GS300, the first thing I would do is get a subscription to alldatadiy.com I saved $3000 min. on my GS400. Dealer wanted to dive into the Var Val. Timming. come to find out with the knowledge of alldatadiy, I was able to trouble shoot and fix it. (sticky VVT celinoid). Anyway I remember reading somthing about changing drive train or trans the ecu has to be reset some how. I know it sound like a commercial but its worth the 25 bucks. Dennis
  3. Thanks everyone for your 2cents. Very helpful. You are right about the ECU. You must have at least one master key that goes with the ECU. Only the inner remote part of the key is needed not the whole ignition switch. I did find someone that had the ability to reprogram the ECU without the matching master key, but it was cheaper to buy a used ECU W/master key then it was to have them reprogram it. Go figure. Anyway not that you care, but it turned out Lexus was wrong. It wasn't the ECU that was bad. Because I had the same problem with the new/used ECU as with the old one. (I get to eat that one for $400 + $220 for thier lazy diagnosis) Var. Valve Timing. Chk engine code P1349 and P0300 "P0301 P0303 P0305 P0307" ended up being the "VVT Oil Control Valve" celinoid for the Var. Valve Timing. I am now an expert in the area. I will start a new posting of this issue in detail. Thanks to all of you and www.alldatadiy.com. $25.00 saved me about $3000+
  4. 98 GS400 190K miles. I had road noise after I had the front windshield replaced with an aftermarket windshield. Also U might want 2 chk wheel bearings. I thought I had bad tires until I replaced them. I had a bad rear wheel bearing, I had that replcd NO MORE NOISE.
  5. I have a 98 gs400 that I bought brand new off the dealer show room floor. and had the same thing, the dealer told me it was because I had 18inch BBS wheels. so I bought 17inch Niche wheels and still had the same problem. I would go throgh tires every 10K - 14K miles. finally I had the alignment done by lazer. I had to ignore the factory specs and go by actual alignment. It was about 5 degrees off from the factory specs. It solved my problem, so I put 18inchers back on and have had no problems. Sometimes you got to go outside the box. It alomost drove me nuts. Hope this helps Dennis
  6. 98 GS400. The Lexus dealer said my ECU is malfunctioning and it needs to be replaced. It isn't sending power to the Var. Valve Timimg. They want $1600. just for the part, plus $420 labor. I found a used ECU for $300. My Question is do I have to replace the ignition also or have the ignition reprogrammed. Or can I just replace the ECU and start it up and drive? ECU part#8966630050 Thanks Dennis (909)238-8292
  7. I am running out of gas, after my car completely stops I put a half gal. in and hope I make to the next station. I quess fuel in the reserve tank is not transfering to the main tank. I pulled the main pump and sending and the left side sending, both sending units are working. The pump unit is intact and the releaf valve are working. No dirt or debres in the tank. Any other ideas?
  8. I have a 98 GS400, I used to be able to drive 40miles after my reserve light came on. Now I have to find a gas station fast when my light comes on. When I fill up it only takes about 14.5 gls. I have a 18.5 gal. tank. So there is 4 gls still in the tank. I used to be able to fill up and it would take about 18 gls. Why am I running out of gas and how to fix it?
