  1. My RX350 had the same drift to the right. The dealer rotated the front tires (not all four), and did a four wheel alignment. That seems to have fixed the problem for the most part. All under warranty...
  2. Recently the factory battery in my 2001 GS300 died and amazingly enough, within an hour the Lexus Roadside Assistance people had a technician at my house who replaced the battery under warranty! That was the good news. The bad news is that somehow the disconnection of the battery not only lost all electric presets, it also appears to have made the 'lights on' chime stop working. This means when the lights are on, but the car is turned off the warning chime doesn't sound. This is a big problem when you live in Florida where it rains all the time, especially when your significant other tends to leave the lights on a lot! I searched all over the owners manual, and found nothing about the ability to turn the feature back on. Anybody know how to do this? I don't really want to make a dealer trip just to get this fixed...
  3. All right don't everybody cring but has anyone put a hitch on their GS and towed a trailer? I know, I know, Lexus does not recommend towing on this vehicle; however, I have seen several hitches on the web that bolt right on for towing up to 2000 lb. I have a small boat and go a short distance. Since I have successfully towed an equivilent load on another unibody vehicle, I was wonder in if anyone has any experience to relate. Regards, The Giant...
  4. The standard factory radio looks good but it doesn't sound very good (personal opinion). Good news though, the front doors can hold 5 and 1/4 inch (depth is the issue) component . Dump the enclosure, it only holds a 4 inch driver but when removed there is plenty of space with a simple adapter you can fabricate. The same goes for the rear, except that it can hold 6.5 inch drive. I put in Boston Acoustic components and they sound good. The rear sub is also garbage. Now you can go wild and crazy like the kids do and take out your trunk, or fabricate a decent size enclosure with a single ten attached to the rear deck that will give you plenty of bass but still leave most of the trunk (thats what I did). Now the hard part is deciding on whether or not to change out the factory unit. In my case, I didn't and used speaker level adapters to power an extra decent size amplifier for all the speakers; however, the factory head unit has no loudness compensation. Its difficult to get the bass response just right, especially if you like to turn your music up. The other down side is the adapters have more distortion, and you can hear it when you turn it up (sounds like hard clipping). Sound Domain Audio provides a very nice DIN dash kit if you wish to replace the factory head unit with something sonically better that looks ok. I am not aware of anyone that makes an adapter for the Lexus changer in the glove box, so it will also need to be replace if you go that route. If you just want to replace the speakers and stay with the factory system, including no additional amplifier, thats probably not a bad way to improve your sound. Its really easy to replace the door speakers, really easy. In retrospect, I would have not bought the extra amplifier for the reasons above. Good luck.
  5. Built the enclosure from 5/8" thick mdf, or particle board. .6 cu ft. The overall depth was about the same as the sub from before, but extended across one side. Picture a rectangular box with the speaker toward one end, sticking down about 6 inches or so from the deck. I can still slide a suitcase underneath, but not much more than that .
  6. once the frunt clips are free, pull forward. it just hooks underneath in the rear (2001 GS that is)
  7. after you pop the front loose, pull forward. On the 2001, the rear has clips that slide in and the front pops down. I would imagine yours would be the same. Good luck... PS, I tried one of the Infinity 10s suitable for free air use with a separate amplifier. Sounds like crap as a free air. I built a .6 cu ft enclosure that mounted directly underneath and it sounds much better. Minimal intrusion into the trunk space. Some folks take out the whole rear section or even the trunk. I still have to carry crap in the trunk...
  8. The link was FUBAR imagine something like that happening on the web. If you navigate thru the autotoys web site you can find the kit, if interested. As for lexstasy, well finding a dash kit for a GS300 did work there either but maybe a little T&A on the banner is supposed to make up for that? I guess this old geezer just couldn't figure it out, if I have to make a phone call its time to move on! It certainly didn't come up on any searches... Everybody's a comedian! Thanks for the feedback folks...
  9. Finally somebody has a dashkit for the GS300! http://store.autotoys.com/cgi-bin/wfp53024...t/KIT815200/400
