  1. My IS does have a button to change between two sets of wheels. I don't know why my shop wouldn't of set this correctly. But I guess they just changed the settings on the first setting in the car at each changeover. I believe your info will help. I can buy the Ateq and get my all season tire codes. I got my winter tire codes from the company I bought them from. If you have any other info feel free. I have a lot to learn. Thanks
  2. I've searched for weeks for a solution to my problem but I can't find one. I changed over to my snow tires and my check system and tpms lights go on when I run my car. The sensors were being read last winter when I was using the same wheels. The all season tires were being read fine. I see that I can switch to the 2nd set of sensors but that didn't solve anything. I know the car had learned the codes but possibly they were overridden when the shop put on the all season tires in the spring. The shop closed a month ago so I can't find out what they did to get the sensors working. Before I buy an Ateq tool to teach the car the codes I wonder if there's anyway to get the car to read the codes without taking it to a shop or buying tools. Thank you
  3. I had severe bubbling on all 4 of my rims. I brought this to the attention of the rep and my dealership and they said they would fix it at no cost to me. My car had about 50000 miles on it. They blamed the problem on salt from the roads. The "dipped" the wheels in alloy and they ended up coming out pretty much like brand new...about 99%. They charged me nothing for this service. I assumed it was covered under warranty due to poor performance of a product. Joe
  4. yeah, I'm talking about the plastic guard...sorry I don't know the technical names of the parts. Thanks for your help guys. Right now I'm holding it together with dental floss...they call me macgyver jr.
  5. does anyone know where i can find a fastener for the rear mudflap. I ran over something in the road and it knocked the flap right off. It's secure on the car, but the fastener is lost. Thanks
  6. I've had the exact same issue with my 06 is250 awd...I'll start the engine, put it in drive and the engine just slows and then *BLEEP*s down. The engine slows as though it is going to shut down sometimes when I'm at a complete stop also...in the middle of a drive... I've had the dealership look at the computer diagnostics twice and they say they saw nothing wrong. I'm not able to replicate and it never happens when it's at the dealership. It only happens on a rare occasion, maybe it's happened 6-12 times, but I'd hate to see it get worse. My warranty is up in just a few hundred miles. Joe
  7. my car got hit by a plow this winter on the streets in boston. The damage is done right about the driver's side rear wheel. I've brought it to 3 shops and the estimates range from $1200 to $580. The $580 is from a local Maaco shop in Brockton, MA. I'm nervous to use Maaco as I've heard they are low budget auto painters. Does anyone have any opinions on where I could go to get this repaired in the boston area? I would scan in a picture, but I don't want to cause any heart attacks...the damage isn't pretty. Thanks for any help. Joe
  8. I have noticed this on my rims also. I have an '06 IS. I never thought that it would be covered on the warranty. The bubbling is on the inside portions of the spokes on the wheels. I'm not sure the technical terminology, sorry. It certainly would be nice to replace them. Thanks for any insight. Joe
  9. I have an 06 IS 250 and this override works everytime. If the nav system has been upgraded to a new version the override may not work, but my understanding is that the override button was gone. I'm not sure why it wouldn't work. The override, however, doesn't allow you to see radio messages, or use bluetooth features while moving...it only allows full functionality of the gps. A piece of advice...don't pull the stuff where you write the same message over and over...the moderators will ban you... Enjoy the site
  10. ya I didn't work hard for it so I don't appreciate it. by chance are you Joe the Plumber? Is it better since you changed your seating/driving position? I sit up what driving around town for better visibility in front of me...when I'm on the highway I like to relax with seat reclined a bit...I lose some immediate visibility in front of me, but that's not really important when on the highway.
  11. Trunk room is actually larger than the 4 door version...according to Edmunds.com. This is including when the top is down... I'm not sure how this can be the case, this is only what I have read.
  12. What problems does the GPS system have? I've had mine since 5/06 and it works awesome...the screen is huge compared to pretty much every other system available. The functions are great and it's built in, so you don't have to worry about theft. These are only a few of the advantages. What do you need to update anyways...are the roads changing so much year to year that you need to update? I know that even up here in Boston where they've been throwing new roads all over the place downtown, I still don't have a problem getting around, even with "old" maps.
  13. what about the Bugati Veyron? just something else to consider...
  14. I bought my IS 250 in May '06 when I was 24...I finally saved enough to get rid of my 99 Escort...I've driven 6 hours home atleast ten times since then and this is the most comfortable car. I typically don't even stop along the way. I used to get real bad back pains in my escort if I didn't get out and stretch halfway home, but not anymore...I usually just put the seat in a relaxed position just sorta chill for 6 hours along the interstate. I can't believe you could complain about this car's comfort...especially since you're 20 years old. I'm willing to bet if you worked hard and earned that car (which I'm assuming you didn't at the age of 20) you would find the car much more comfortable...I love this car and recommend it to anyone I know looking for a car in the class. Joe
  15. I've never heard of this...I don't even use the voice on my gps, but the volume was always loud enough when I had it on when I first drove my car. I never had to turn it above 3 or 4. The voice only comes out of the left driver speaker because the driver is the only one that needs to know which way to turn.
