  1. I got it from Lexus of Cool Springs (Nashville). It was worth every bit of the four hour drive not to buy from Memphis!
  2. Has anybody heard of something like this before? We are stuck with one dealer in town, Lexus of Memphis. I was already wary of their sales department due to a shady deal they tried to pull on us in the past, so I bought our 2013 RWD GS350 out of town at another dealer. We have been happy with their maintenance department so far. Well, the other day, we get a call out of the blue from them...a salesman said he had a client that was looking for our exact car, color, and options. He wanted us to bring it in ASAP so they could make an offer on it becuase they were very anxious to get the car. Well, this sounded intriguing. We called Lexus for the payoff for our car, $38K. Interestingly, corporate must have notified the dealer because we immediately got another call from them wanting to set up an appt. So the next morning, my wife brings the car in for their inspection. They offer to take the car off our hands for our payoff amount AND get us into a newer car for less per month. DEAL OF THE CENTURY, right? Uh, no. Black book value for our car was just about $38K...but our car also had a $2000 service contract with it! We had done all our maintenance at the dealer, so they knew how cherry it was...with only 20K miles, they would have certified it in just a few minutes. Similar certified cars are going for $46-48K at other dealers...cha-ching$$$ He wanted to put us into a 2014 GS350, same colors, for $300 less per month. Oh, it also does not have the Luxury package...but it is cheaper! Of course, our car is financed and he was offering a lease, but details details. Perusal of the contract also revealed that they were giving us a whole $1000 off MSRP! Wow! Did I mention I got $5500 off MSRP on our car? Oh, and their price included a $2200 manufacturer's rebate on leases for the 2014. Hmm...could that be because the 2015s were coming out and they needed to clear out their old models? Yes indeedee. Rather than give him a piece of my mind for wasting our time, I egged him on. I wouldn't be interested in a 2014, but rather a 2015 with AWD and only if they were able to offer something close to the deal I had on our car. The saleman said the 2015s weren't due for a few weeks, but he was sure his GM could work something out. Yeah right. I wonder what happened to the anxious clients? Can you say waste of time? So they wanted us to bend over on our car, and bend over again to take a car they were trying to get rid of. How f-ing stupid do they think we are? Just the nerve of them trying to pull that kind of BS gets my blood boiling. In a way, it's a brilliant way to take advantage of clueless people...wow, get into a newer car for a lower monthly payment! I wonder how many suckers they reeled in like this?
  3. Well, just bought a loaded 06 RX330AWD with Nav, DVD, Mark Levinson, etc about 3 days ago. Had some problems with it (as detailed in another forum). But overall, I've been very impressed with Park Place. I was lucky enough to catch the end of the Lexus lease promotion and the sales tax promotion (1.2%)...I guess they were anxious to get rid of 330s now that 350 is here, but I got in at invoice. MSRP about 48K, Cap Cost 42K, factor .00199, 36 mos. They took me a bit on my trade-ins (2 cars), but overall I was very pleased with the experience. Then I ran into all the problems I listed in the other forum. But the salesman (Corey Tinant) called to see how things were going today, and I told him about all the problems I was having. In a few minutes, he was on his way to my home with a loaner, picked up my car and left the loaner. A few hours later, he was back with my car. Apparently, they had not initialized the car (it had come from another dealer). He apologized profusely and was soon on his way again. Well, as annoying as I found the problems, I was just as impressed with the service. I just thought they deserved some props.
  4. OK, I'm not a total idiot. I know where the lumbar adjustment is. My complaint is that the lumbar bladder is placed too high on the back. My previous two cars (an Audi and a BMW) had lumbar supports that not only inflated and deflated but would travel up or down on the back. As far as the other problems, it turns out the dealer did not initialize the car when they got it from another dealer...therefore the user settings were all screwed up. Hopefully the problems are all cleared up (except for my back).
  5. Thanks for the info. Yeah...I wish I had tested for longer than a few minutes...well, live and learn. Depended too much on my past experience with Lexus. So how would you suggest fixing the lumbar support? The only adjustment is forward and back...it is just placed too high.
  6. Well, I've been the owner of a brand new 06 RX330 AWD for two days and I am already fed up with it. To start, it seems to have a number of problems with its electronics...the programmable seats only intermittently seem willing to be programmed regardless of whether the car is on or not. The power windows initially did not work from the driver's seat...I had to "normalize" each one individually before they would work. The moonroof controls seem to be screwed up...you can tilt and slide regardless of whether you use the tilt or slide button. The problem with this is that you can never know for a fact that the moonroof is completely closed...once you slide or tilt the roof to a presumably closed position, it will continue on to tilt or slide open respectively. Furthermore, the voice recognition does not work worth a crap. It is a far cry from the Acura system I saw demo'd earlier. The dealer assured me that voice recognition would control the climate system (it does not) and could make calls (denied again). I should have done my homework, but even after I brought the car home it took me hours of reading through the reference materials to conclude that it could not perform those functions. I also found it hard to believe that there is no master list of voice commands that the system recognizes...the reference card is abridged. Sitting in the car to go through the help menu seems an inconvenient way to learn. While I can understand the safety concerns causing Lexus to disable most of the nav functions while the car is moving, it is incredibly frustrating when there is a copilot onboard who is unable to do anything. The phone book is almost useless...there is no way to edit the name of a contact once the car has downloaded the name wrong. Finally, my biggest disappointment is with the seats. I went from a 2001 BMW 540i 6-speed with the luxury seats (the most comfortable seats in the world...standard power seats with adjustable north-south lumbar PLUS power adjustable upper back and power headrests) to these. The lumbar support perfectly pushes out on my mid-upper back (where it is supposed to go in) and has NO support for my lower back. I haven't experienced such discomfort since my college days in my friend's Yugo. Unfortunately, this wasn't something I picked up in my brief test drive...it was only after spending some time behind the wheel and my subsequent need for traction that I discovered this. It is a far cry from my memory of my last Lexus, a second generation ES300 with great seats like butter. Sadly, this car does not live up to my memory of what owning a Lexus was supposed to be about.
