  1. I have a ton of scratches on the hood. I think the design of the car with the rounded high hood somehow attract rocks or I'm just the unluckiest guy around myself. They bounce of the hood (scratch it first) and then hit the windshield (which has a ton of scratches as well). I don't think the paint job is the best either but that's just my opinon. I also have a clear bra (from day one) and it doesn't seem to help that much because the scratches are all above the clear bra. I also have a ton of tiny scratches on the windshield. I'm wondering about the quality of the glass also.
  2. You just spent a ton of money on a new IS. I'd opt to have it done professionally. Do you remember all those stupid people who tried to tint their windows? They wanted to save a few bucks. The other day I saw a Lexus LS430 with the bubble window in the back. I just started laughing out loud because here was someone who spent more than $60k for a car but refused to pay $250 for window tinting. Doesn't make sense to me.
  3. I have a popping sound now because they took mine apart to fix rattles and buzzing sounds. It's better now but I'm going to take it back for the rattles again and the new popping sounds I'm getting. So far, I'm not impressed at all with the interior build quality of the car. I even hear intermittant rattles coming from my left door. I believe it's actually the window as I can press on it to make the rattling sound disappear. The problem with this rattling sound is getting the dealer to hear it as they usually only drive around the block. I need to get these guys into the car and drive around my area where the streets are not as good. I guess I should have kept my cheaper car which didn't have the rattling sounds at all. These things just drive me up the wall for some reason. I do admit that I'm anal about these sounds. What's worse is that I even hear sounds coming from the rear of the car as I drive up the driveway (squeeking sound) and also when I back in/out of a parking spot and have to turn my steering wheel quite a bit(clicking sound).
  4. 1. No, not yet :) 2. There is an option in the setup menu that prevents the screen from switching back to the NAV screen. Thanks, I found it. That worked great.
  5. Hmmm. I spent quite a few bucks on dealer extras. I guess they could throw in a few things ... I sure like completing surveys when I get them!!! It's good to know that "what goes around comes around".
  6. I thought I had done that but I'll check it out again. Thanks everyone.
  7. I happen to also be very disappointed with the iPOD sound and quality in the new IS350. Is that a function of the recording quality of the iPOD music or the IS350 sound system? When I hookup my iPOD I have to crank up the volume to an extremely high level to get any decent sound. When I do that I always have to remember not to press the mode button to switch to the radio before lowering the volume to avoid hurting my ears!!!! Is there any way to also get the NAV to display the playlist/artist on the iPOD? In my opinion, the iPOD support in the car is extremely weak to say the least.
  8. I actually did stop by at the dealership yesterday. I brought it up with the sales team and service advisor. They are going to look into it. Apparently, I was the first one to get the new XM radio for the IS350 at this particular dealer. I'm pretty sure that they had some trainee do the installation who probably ran the wire from the rear of the car up instead of running it from the receiver down thus exposing the extra wire ... I told them that I wasn't too happy with the looks.
  9. 1. Is there any way to turn off the legal crap when the car is started and the Nav is powered on? 2. Is there a way to "pin" a NAV screen without it going back to the map screen automatically. I sometimes like to view the radio satellite screen to see the artists playing but I hate always having to click the audio button because it returns back to the map screen. thanks
  10. I purchased an XM radio satellite from the Lexus dealer. I was not impressed with the installation aesthetics of the final result. The satellite receiver (I guess that's what it is) which is mounted on the roof of the IS350 has about 1 inch of wire showing and is not completely covered as it was with my Infiniti G35 or as I have seen with the BMWs. That wire makes the installation look like it was done by someone like myself who has no experience doing this kind of work and looks just really cheap... I might have to add a picture of this but has anyone else had the satellite radio installed?
  11. I wash my car every week and now the Lexus dealership does it for me for free. I do this on Saturday. On Sunday I polish the front and back wheels and by early week the front wheels are completely black. Looks really bad ... otherwise I guess nothing wrong... I also think the particular design they picked for the wheels isn't the best. I had a G35 Coupe and the wheels were much easier to clean and maintain. The layout of the spokes on this particular wheel they picked make it hard to clean the outside and in particular the inside ( must be the larger rotors used ).
  12. I have a brand new IS350 and have noticed a few problems. This is my first Lexus and I'm somewhat disappointed that I'm already experiencing some rattles and buzzing sounds in the dashboard. It's hard to figure out where exactly but it's the front left and right side. I've also noticed the notorious problems that BMW used to have with the front wheels turning black. I assume this is break dust. I'm experiencing the same thing. I clean the wheels on the weekend and by Tuesday/Wednesday they are completely black. Anyone else have similar problems/issues with the IS350? thanks
