  1. Thanks. We'll try that to see what happens. At least worth a shot.
  2. Another question for the board -- I'm sure neither Lexus nor its lawyers wants you to do this, but I'm curious if there any known hacks for bypassing the following on the navigation system: 1) The requirement that you hit "I Agree" every time you start the vehicle. Minor issue, but "YES, WE AGREE" - we fully understand that we may crash and burn if we stare at the Navi screen instead of looking out for all of those cell-phone-talkin' people on the road. Do we have to continually re-affirm every single time we start the car? 2) The requirement that your vehicle be under a certain minimum speed before you can have access to enter in a new destination or perform a POI search. We've only had the car for a couple months but have already had to pull over to the side of the road at least 5 times so that the passenger can enter a new destination. Again, completely understand the practical safety reasons for this limitation but also seems reasonable that a passenger should be able to access while the vehicle is in motion. These questions may have been asked before. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas for bypassing these safety/legal restrictions?
  3. Yeah, doesn't make any sense that they removed that functionality - but it appears that they did. I have yet to hear of anyone with an '06 model that can make it automatically scroll. Seems like such a simple thing, yet removing it pretty well eliminates the utility of the RDS feature (at least as far as I'm concerned - it's a pain to press the Text button every time you want to see other information).
  4. What year car do you have? And do you have navi + stereo/CD changer?
  5. Yep, the 40002 - Neo iOn SP is what we purchased and installed. Unfortunately, I have no idea whether it is the same as the SoundLinQ. All I know is that I talked to an old friend of mine who is a high-end stereo installation instructor and he recommended. Best Buy charged about $55 for installation. Then it's lifetime guarantee for the install. Thus, I was able to bring back and have them change the install from the MD Change emulation mode to the CD Changer emulation mode - no extra charge. As best I can tell, there is capability for 12 playlists with an as-yet unlimited number of songs per playlist. We have more than 99 songs on one playlist and it continued playing past song 99, although the track number went a little funky. As far as I can tell, here is how the stereo/CD changer equates: CD Disc = Playlist CD Track = Song Name Thus text shows the Playlist name as the Disc and does not show the Artist Name. Still pretty cool though. Also, the model we bought includes a second input for Auxiliary in the event we subsequently want to add some other source. We'll probably never use it, but the reason I bring it up is because pressing the CD button on the stereo toggles back and forth as follows: First touch = CD Changer Second touch = CD Auxiliary (currently unused by us) Third touch = Back to CD Changer Fourth touch = CD1 Changer (IPod) Hope this helps. Edit -- I happened to notice on the installation manual that this is indeed the SoundLinQ model. Don't know the significance of that, but looks like you were correct. Also, to further answer your question, random seems to work - at least rudimentally - however, it does seem to repeat songs a little too often. That may also be because we don't have a whole lot of songs on her IPod yet. Hopefully it will be a more true "random" once we have a larger sample of songs from which it can choose. Also, haven't really tested it too much yet, but I believe you have full access to control directly from the IPod if you want to select a specific song by a specific artist without slogging through an entire playlist by hitting the track forward button until you hit the right song.
  6. Try www.mp3yourcar.com. I bought one for my wife's 2006 RX330 with Navi and had it installed by Best Buy. If you get it, make certain they connect as a CD Changer emulator rather than an MD Changer emulator because only the CD Changer activated text. Full functionality through the header unit on the steering wheel. Works great. Puts the IPod in the glove compartment with no visible wires. It's pretty nice.
  7. My wife has a 2006 RX330 with Navigation. I have a 2001 LX470. Both have RDS capability to display text on the stereo. However, we can't figure out how to get the RX330 RDS to automatically scroll rather than having to repetitively press Text if you want to move from radio station ID to artist to song name. On the older LX470, it does scroll automatically. We have checked with the dealer, checked the manual, and even checked with the stereo install guy that installed the VaisTech IPod connection in the RX330. No answers yet. Anybody have any possible solutions?
