  1. Well I contacted Lexus and they offered to pay for the parts $ 3244.98 and I pay the 10.1 hrs labor $1363.50 and not sure on the tax 295.29 and shop supplies of 30.00. The price is different now with Lexus involved maybe they wanted more parts replaced not sure. They are replacing 8 control arms guess 4 on each side, I got the impression this is typical problem with the car not sure but don't have a lot of choice. So I am out for about $2000 including the two new tires. I wanted to put this out to the owners group to see if others have had this problem with 07 LS suspension parts. Maybe I should ask for the old parts ? Just for curiosity, sake wonder if they will comply ? Gerald Brawley
  2. Went to Phx AZ Lexus dealer after noticing a front tire ( original) at 18,000 miles on my 2007 LS wearing uneven cupping on inside edge. Never hit a curb or big pothole as far as I know. Asked for a front end alignment and put new tire on front, along with spare. Got a call shortly thereafter I need new upper and lower control arms $3600 and my one new tire is $400 installed. I mentioned the mileage on the car and service writer after I refused the repair said he called Lexus to see if they might cover this repair because of the low mileage. He said Lexus will do nothing for me. I have always enjoyed dealing with Lexus in Portland and Phoenix and they have always gone the extra mile for us. I realize that I pay a bit more to go to the dealer but been willing to pay the extra because of the good service. We have 4 Lexus vehicles in our family wife, son, daughter myself and are surprised they will do nothing in our case. Any ideas on who I might contact at Lexus to hear this from them directly. Based on this example of premature wear out they seem to be a different company. I would be interested in other owners comments. ps Also since I did not buy the tire from them I bought 2 kumho tires installed for $345. Thanks for your input Gerald
  3. I am curious if anyone knows any details on the new 2010 GX redesign due out this fall I was told by a dlr. Will it continue to have a manual torque convertor ( for flat towing). Will it be a smaller vehicle? any details are appreciated. Thanks Gerald Brawley :(
  4. I currently own an 06 470 GX which I tow and have towed behind a motor home for over 3 years. I know it is not reccommended but know at least 6 to 8 others who are doing it with no trouble. My question is I wonder how much longer Lexus will continue to make the GX with a manual transfer case. Am considering an 09 and wonder if there is any difference in the two, they dont look any difference. Does anyone also know when they are going to change the GX as I have seen the Acura MDX is no longer towable. Appreciate your feedback Gerald
  5. I have a 06 GX and a 07 LS the two nav systems are very different. Will an upgrade (to the 06 GX system) give me the capability to insert phone numbers for Nav direction as in the 07 and better screen features? Or does the upgrade just give me more place info? Also Does the 08 GX have the same nav as the 07 LS? thanks in advance for any info Gerald
  6. I read a while back that Lexus was going to pretty much redesign everything in the line up by 2007 but have not seen anything concerning the SC. Any idea when the new body design will come out and what will it look like? thanks Jerry
  7. I just purchased a new 06 GX 470. Asked the dealer for a price on an xm installed and approx $800 for xm only. Got the previous answer to my xm request from someone who has installed a Toyota Land Cruiser kit for xm. It would seem to me that if you could install both of the interfaces that would use your existing audio screen would be nice. So my question is has anyone done this? How was it accomplished? And my past experiences is the fewer times someone takes the dash pieces apart the fewer rattles etc. I would like to have this done once and be able to play both xm and ipod without a bunch of junk around the dash. Thanks for your reply and ideas Jerry
  8. Hello I have a new 06 GX coming in a couple of weeks and I plan on flat towing the rig. After owning an RV casita in Indio for a couple of years I noticed my neighbors two have LX 470s and four have GX 470s and everyone is happy with the towing experience no transmission problems. I used to tow an RX and in 2001 or 02 had a transmission go out on me so I was concerned trying it again. I know Lexus says they dont reccommend it but with so many of my neighbors doing it successfully I decided to order a GX. I ran into a guy in an RV park towing a GX in Washington and he got some kind of a transmission disconnect installed so the dealer would grant him a warranty. Guess you have to decide if you are willing to take the risk on a transmission failure. With so many of my neighbors doing it and one of my neighbors has over 70,000 miles of driven miles and who know how many towed miles with no problems guess I decided to take the risk. It is a personal decision. Just my 2 cents worth. B)
  9. I have ordered a new 06 GX and we take our 50 lb part golder retriever everywhere with us, part of the family. I was thinking about maybe having a plastic seat cover put on the her seat with a leash to keep her in her place but thought maybe I would put this out to see what others have done for pets . I dont really want to carry around a cage as some have done takes too much space. Just wanted to throw out this and see what others have done. Thanks G Brawley
  10. I just noticed your question about installation. If you are at all handy the installation is a snap. If not, I would venture to say that any car audio place that knows it's stuff would have no problem at all installing the unit. Regarding price, I think the unit is about $400. I got a better deal because I drove up to him and played guinea pig to see if his stuff worked okay so I don't know the exact price. His name is Jon August. ← The local Lexus dealer in Portland Or refered me to a guy who installs a xm with a small mounted screen not included in the Nav screen. Where is your screen is in incorporated in the Nav or radio screen? Does it have the capability for preselected buttons for preset stations? thanks Gerald
  11. I have a RX 400h on order and want to have xm radio, just wondering since it is not available factory as yet, what my options are. I am not too excited about having a Rhody hanging on my dash. Are there any built into the radio options out there and what is the approx cost? And who installs them?
