  1. heres the story....Bought my 99 es300 2 1/2 years ago 36,000 miles ...Awesome no complaints, I have it at 95,000 now. Over the summer the check engine light trac on/off light came on. Went to autozone, they told me it was the o2 sensor. The most expensive one $150.00 bosch. Had my friend put it in, no problem. The light comes on again, 1 month later...Go to autozone. They say ots the mass air flow sensor. So I made an appointment at a toyaot dealership, only because the closest lexus dealer is 2 hours away! They verified its the mass air flow sensor, but wanted to charge me $400.00 to put it in. I bought the part at advanced auto parts for around $80.00 all said and done. HAd my buddy put the part in. No problems! A week later the light comes on again! Take it to autozone, and they tell me it has something to do with the emmisions. ?????? SO I am stuck right now, and really dont want to spend a fortune at the dealer without doing my research first! I can say that when in drive with my foot on the brake. it idles. Bt idles down, like its loosing power a little bit. Also when I drive it kinda sputters when it picks up. hesitates almost from like 5mph to 35-40 mph. I did put some fuel injector in it, helps a little bit, but problem still exist! Anyone who knows anything about this problem, ANYTHING would be great, please email me at kguzylak@yahoo.com, THAnks so mcuh in advance, Kelley:)
  2. Snagalia !! I don't know about the other guys (their year and model) but I am fairly certain that your 97 ES300 is covered under an extended emissions warranty. I have a 97 ES300 with 120K miles. If you already paid for the repair you may be able to get reimbursed by Lexus. I started a thread with the same title (Charcoal canister) in the ES300 forum a while back. There are links to the relevant info. It was a very pleasant surprise for me to find out the warranty had been extended to 150,000 miles or 10 years!! I had $900 dollars of repairs all paid for by Lexus!! ← :) HI there, I belive I am having the same problem in my car the charcoal cannister. Check engine light came on about 2 months ago. Had the o2 sensor replaced, and the mass air flow sensor as well. Still comes on..along with the trac on/off light. So took her to autozone and they told me it had to do something with the emmisions. ????? Could this be the charcoal cannister? it runs fine...Except when I stop at a stop sign or red light. When I have it in drive, but my foot on the brake, it idles a little bit. The idle drops, like it looses power. I put fuel injector in it and filled it up, maybe helps a little, but its still happening. Also doesnt pick up speed properly, kinda sputters. Anyone with any info please email me at kguzylak@yahoo.com. Thanks so much in adavance!
  3. Hello, bought this 1999 lexus es300 with 36,000 miles 2.5 years ago. Let me give you a list of problems that I am currently having! Now the car has 95,000. I got it at an auction, did vehicle check and everything is clear, never been wrecked, etc., The problem is ever since I have had the car, the air bag sensor on the dash has blinked! The closest lexus dealer is 160 miles away and cant get me in for 2 months! ! I have had it checked out by numerous mechanics and no one can tell me what the problem is! I have had the o2 sensor replaced a month ago, and ultra quiet brake pads ( in which the darn things still squeek! which sucks because Lexus is not supposed to squeek!) The check engine /trac on/off light is back on, and to top EVERYTHING OFF, I went on vacation, ran the a/c the whole time I was there, and on my last day, noticed the smoke blowing out of the vents, and the floor behind both front seats was seriously soaked with water (I have to use a wet vac twice now! ) The a/c still works, but not as good as it could be, and I am scared to run it because of the water issue! Can someone please help, I made an appointment at the dealership, but its not for 2 months, and I wuold hate to drive all that way for them to tell me that I have to pay up thousands to fix this! Thanks in adavance! Kelley ;) , please email me at kguzylak@yahoo.com
  4. Hello, just read your qustion, it was back in january and I just googled to find your question with the a/c problem, because my cart is doing the same ( 99 lexus es300 94,000) except its leaking water behind the drivers seats! Did you get it fixed? what was wrong and how much did it cost? thanks alot, Its so hard, becuase the closest lexus dealership is 200 miles away!
