  1. 2008 Lexus LS 460 L (VIN# JTHGL46F585028916) 114k miles; Located in Huntsville AL 35814 Black Sapphire Pearl / Cashmere / Medium Brown Walnut Mark Levinson DVD Changer w/ HDD: Reference Surround Sound Audio Air Suspension Package Luxury Package Photos: https://www.smugmug.com/gallery/n-zp9SB9 All scheduled maintenance performed by the dealer and always garaged. I purchased this car in 2014 with just 5,000 miles on it. Each time it was washed, I wiped down the door frames/jamb, trunk frame/jamb, and cleaned under the hood with Meguiars Spray Detailer. It has been an outstanding travel car, but my lifestyle has changed and I am now in need of a pickup truck. $15.5k obo. Serious inquiries only.
  2. FWIW I had the same experience as few years back. Turns out it was the problem below. Since I was outside the warranty period, it cost me $3,000+. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2016/MC-10134412-9999.pdf
  3. Thank you! Costco, indeed, had some good deals. However, since one of the two tires (rear set) I needed to replace had a nail and the tread was separating from the core at only about 20k miles, the dealer strongly pro-rated the price of that tire making overall replacement costs more palatable. When the two front tires are due for a change, I'll likely go with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ from Costco, which runs $100 less per tire than the dealer.
  4. I looked for a "sticky" post on this topic before posting my own question, but didn't find one. If there is already a good thread on this, please point me in that direction. I have a 2008 LS460L with the ASP that I've owned for a little over 2 years. About 18 months ago, the dealer installed 4 x Michelin Primacy MXM4 (Green X) 245/45-19 tires to the tune of $1,200.00. I'm determined not to part with my hard earned money like that again. I've researched and personally bought tires for all of my previous cars and used a local installer. After a bad experience at one of the national tire chains (lug bolts rated for 82 lb-ft tightened closer to 130 lb-ft), I started removing all 4 wheels myself, carting the wheels and new tires to the installer, re-mounting the wheels myself, and applying the appropriate torque. After nearly 5 years out of the game, it looks like I'm going to be doing this again. I'd like to hear recommendations for a tire that is "good enough" for the LS460L under normal all-season driving conditions. Obviously, I'm not interested in paying $300+ per tire, but I'm also not trying to find the $90 tire. I'd like good, middle-of-the-road (pun intended) tire that can handle extended interstate driving with 4 full-sized adults and luggage. Thanks in advance!
  5. I drove to Tennessee this past Saturday to check out the car. In addition to the ASP, it also had the Luxury Package and the Mark Levinson sound system. It was nice to finally drive a long body and I think it would work for me with the ASP in "Sport" mode and the transmission in "Power" mode. The rear was spacious and the reclining, cooled seats were fabulous. However, this particular example was apprently owned by a heavy smoker and there was already some corrosion on the rims and under the hood. I suspect the corrosion was due to the car being from Massachusetts, where they salt the roads frequently. So, I decided to pass.
  6. I'm looking at a 2008 LS 460L that has the air suspension package (ASP). The ASP has "Sport" and "Comfort" settings. However, according to the 2008 LS brochure, the suspension that comes with the Touring Package (TP) is "Sport Tuned". I know from talking with the dealer's parts manager that the TP air suspension has different struts and a different computer. Of course, the TP also gives you larger brakes front and rear. If I purchase this car it will never see a racetrack, but don't want to wonder if I'm going to roll over on twisty country back roads and I really don't want to experience brake fade on those roads. My question is, how much of a difference do the TP's suspension and brakes make on the handling of the car? Is it worth it to hold out for a car with the full TP? TIA
  7. The car looks absolutely amazing! Do you know if it was equipped with the Touring Package?
