  1. Band , so yours is working well now ? dose the detector stick well to windshield now and not fall off again ?

    i have the same problem with my 2015 RX350 . my car only has 16k miles and still under manufacturer  warranty . Anybody know if Lexus dealer will repair it under the manufacturer  warranty ? the car  has the original Lexus glass. Thanks

      My dealership claims that I need a new windshield and so they pulled the sensor off and handed it to me.   According to all I read they damaged the detector by handling it.... Guess I'll reach out to Lexus North America

  2. Seems like a clever person could wire in a mini-switch that would open the sensor wiring, then mount the switch on the housing in a position where the switch body would clear the sensor. Position 1 auto wipers; position 2 interval wipers. I'm happy with auto wipers, though they do get fits every now and then. Seems to help to have water beading stuff on your windshield

I was not able to find anything detailing this enhanced warranty except for the letter I received. There are registration forms in the rear of the supplemental service/warranty booklet for a new owner to register their car with Lexus.
  4. I got a letter from Lexus yesterday that describes an extended warranty for subject issue. A new primary warranty on my car's headlights will extend to 10/31/2015 regardless of mileage. Cosmetic damage will be covered as well as failure from moisture. Reimbursement for prior moisture related headlight repairs will be covered. My car is a 2005 purchased about 6 months ago. I sent the form in the back of the supplement manual to Lexus to register my vehicle. Looks like good news for a lot of forum members!

  6. My airbag fault light has stayed on after starting twice in the last few months. I'm inclined to do a "wait and see" with something so intermittent, but am wondering if anyone has advice or suggestions.
  7. My all-time dumb response was at a Ford dealership. Many years ago I had a Ford Granada company car that was a horrible POS. Upon shut off it would do a lean burn St. Vitus dance run-on with loud knocking and hissing for 10 seconds or so. I complained to the dealer and was told "That's the sound of economy".
  8. You could get one of those carpet looking dash covers from an accessory dealer. If you try for a repair, you might check if someone in your area has professional experience in this sort of thing. Or shop for a new dash on line and install it yourself. 303 is the best protectant I've used. Check "dash repair"," Cracked dash", or any iteration of your problem on an internet search and you'll get an information overload. Likely you will be disuaded from doing a repair yourself.
  9. If not exact, they are very close. The front mats are just about perfect. The anchor clips line up. Rear mats are OK, but no holes for the anchor clips. Ordered tan color, but mats have a slight taupe overtone which is still a good match for the tan interior. These are good heavy duty mats.

  11. I'm a newcomer to these cars and this forum, but over $500 for a transmission & differential oil change sounds a bit high to say the least. You could call and ask what it costs for a Toyota Highlander (essentially what you're driving) as a "test". I just did this service on my Miata using the best synthetic fluids (cost $60) and labor ($40). Also, seems like the description "flush" is frequently hype and a cover for exhorbitant prices. My $0.02
  12. Right as rain! A well aimed spritz of silicone oil and a good tug and all the latches now work. Probably hadn't been moved since the car was new. Thanks!
  13. The tabs that lift up to move the cross bars on my roof rack lift to about a 45 degree angle and no more and consequently they do not disengage. I believe they should lift further to disengage, but I am afraid of breaking the tabs off. All four tabs behave in the same manner. What am I not doing right?
  14. Thanks all for your help! Problem started out with rain sensor becoming detached from the windshield. I did not realize that the metal bracket that is glued to the windshield detaches from the detector module by means of a locking piece on the module's bottom. Separating the metal bracket and cleaning all glue residue off, I used rearview mirror glue to reattach the metal bracket to the windshield, let it cure for a day, and then attached the detector after cleaning the window tape with alcohol. I sprayed the windshield with some glass cleaner and guess what? The wipers dutifully responded! Paul, you're right - should have gone to the dealer right off - but I'd have missed out on all this trial and error fun.
  15. Rain test came and wipers revert to standard intermittent operation. In other words, the sensing device doesn't work. This car has so many arcane reset codes for other automated functions, I'm wondering if there isn't some bizarre setup for the wipers? Id really like to see this system work.
