  1. Mine does the same thing. The only time I really notice it is when trying to park in a tight spot. When doing this, the last thing I need is an engine that revs up 3 or 4 hundred rpms! :o I am going to talk to the dealer about it when I have the 5000-mile service done. I hope they don’t try to tell me it’s normal as I have never had a car that did this before.
  2. I just wanted to note that my hitch is already starting to see some use. After I washed the GX today I was toweling it off and noticed the chrome is chipped on the trailer ball. It had to have been someone parking by brail that hit it. No other damage, maybe their bumper didn't fair as well. :whistles: I can live with that.
  3. Heres a link to their online catalog so you can get the right one for your year. http://www.lexus-parts.com/ ← __________________ Thanks for the update. BTW, is that the 5000lb or the 6500lb hitch?? ← The one for my 05' is marked 6500lbs. It may not be the same on older years.
  4. It seems strange that Lexus would shut down the VSC because of the gas cap! The PCM is checking to see if the fuel tank can contain evaporative emissions “ Federal Law” but I don’t understand the strategy of tying it to the VSC system.
  5. If you don't mind my asking. What was the part number # and the cost from Sewell. I think I may order it from them, since the local dealer is completely worthless in helping me in my quest. Thanks in advance ... ← Heres a link to their online catalog so you can get the right one for your year. http://www.lexus-parts.com/
  6. That sucks. What ever you do you sure dont want to make it look worse. Would you consider covering up the scrap with something like this? It's a Subaru bumper corner molding.
  7. FranklinGonz, Sounds like your center differential lock is on. With the engine running push the button in front of the shifter it is the one just to the right of the 12v/120w power outlet. wait a few seconds and the light should turn off. Do not drive on dry pavement with the center differenal locked. If the lights dont go out try backing up and driving foward a few feet as the four wheel drive system can get in a bind.
  8. Mine is an 05' I didn't have to remove any plastic cover plate. ← ← ←
  9. Made in the USA, humm I hope it doesent go down hill like many said the RX did when they stopped making them in Japan.
  10. Today I installed the OEM Lexus hitch that my selling dealer said I could not buy! I ordered it from Sewell in Dallas no problem. It took me less than an hour to install and I saved $100.00 over what it would have cost if I had ordered with the car. I had read that Sewell was a great dealer to order parts from on another thread. I must say I agree.
  11. Tex GX, Who makes that grill guard you have? I like the way it looks. Thanks
  12. Just go to U-Haul and get Part Number 78445 (Class 3 Hitch). 8 Bolts later (the nuts are already welded in to the frame of the GX 470). The Truck is already prewired for the tail lights, etc., so nothing to do there. Cost for 78455 was $179.95 -- Lexus wanted lots more. U-Haul will install it for about $50 more but if you can change a tire you can DIY. Borrow a Torque wrench to get the correct torque on the bolts 65 and 17 pds depending on the size of the bolts. ← I have looked at the Draw Tite and U Haul. They dont have as high of a weight rating as the Lexus hitch. Only 3500 LBS Weight-Carrying Capacity
  13. MY GX will be here in 3 weeks and I need the hitch also. The Lexus dealer said I could not buy the factroy one. I wonder if the hitch that they put on the V-8 Toyota 4 runner is the same as the Lexus hitch.
  14. Thats what everyone says until they drive their vehicle in the snow with new snow tires ;) Snow tires make a huge difference on any vehicle in the snow. Its not the tread pattern as much as its the composition of the rubber. ← The difference snow tires made on my wifes car "02' subaru outback" was like night and day. She wont drive it in the winter untill I swap them now.
