  1. I've done this, and the decision re: whether to remove the battery is a toss-up. Also, after years of searching for better light, I think LED technology is finally maturing. I have halogens, and the HID conversions are too prone to beam scatter, not to mention spotty QC, overheating, etc. Previous LEDs were no better than halogens, and also prone to scatter. A friend (an anal engineer!) put these in his Element, and after a month of dark midwest winter driving, is very pleased. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078ZW47N6/?coliid=I1CWC64PHELXON&colid=17MX913XQB5NV&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it I may or may not need the CANBUS adapters to fool the confuser into thinking everything's hunky-dory, but I'm going to order them and hope to return them unopened. https://www.amazon.com/HIKARI-Conversion-Headlight-Flickering-Resistor/dp/B07688V7V9/ref=pd_sim_263_1?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07688V7V9&pd_rd_r=55XAG40PV3FH2GWRT979&pd_rd_w=4Wkn7&pd_rd_wg=PGe3v&psc=1&refRID=55XAG40PV3FH2GWRT979
  2. Oh god.... "THE DREADED OIL THREAD" in ATF guise! I used Valvoline MaxLife ATF, which is Toyota T-IV certified. And BobTheOilGuy thinks it's better. Bottom line: Anything that's nice and fresh is better than icky old stuff!!
  3. I did a "mini-change" by just draining 3.5 qts via the drain plug on the pan. The fluid that came out was black as old oil! 100 miles later I have clear pink fluid with some black sludge (clutch pack material) in it. I'll do another mini-change in a month or so, and rinse 'n repeat 'til it's satisfactorily clean. BTW, after much research, I used Valvoline MaxLife ATF. It's Toyota T-IV compliant, and BobTheOilGuy thinks it's better. YMMV,
  4. To get to the fogs, pull the black plastic shroud over the radiator. Remove the one screw that holds the corner markers. Below that you can get to the fogs. They are held in by one 10mm nut, and a pinch-clip on the opposite corner, and will slide straight out once you release those.
  5. I call this a "mini-change," as opposed to a complete trans fluid change where you drop the pan, change the filter, etc. The total capacity of the transmission & differential is something like 14 qts, so changing 3.5 qts is really just diluting the old fluid with nice fresh stuffl. But it's SO easy!! Just open the drain plug with a 10mm allen wrench, and let 'er rip. Doing this every six months or so is WAY easier than dropping the pan, etc. every 30k. And it solved my problem with my car not wanting to downshift as needed. Happy camper! edit: After much research, I used Valvoline MaxLife ATF. It's Toyota T-IV certified (Bobtheoilguy thinks it's better!), and it's much easier to come by on a Sunday afternoon.
  6. Is there any way to hard-wire my iPod into the stock radio? I don't really want to use a cassette adapter, or an FM modulator.
  7. Welcome to the Lexus forums WheezerMF :)
