  1. Well, I researched and figured out exactly what I needed to get our 2002 RX300 ready to tow. I got everything, installed it, and then traded the car in...not too smart. But, before I traded it, I removed the "Power Converter Module" and wiring harness. I got it from Park Place Lexus and the "kit" came with everything you need except the actual frame mounted trailer hitch. It is Toyota part: 08921-48070I, decsription: RX300 Power Converter". In the box is the blue module that plugs into the factory socket in the "trunk" of the RX300 behind the spare, the cable that plugs into factory socket of the cable mounted in the black plastic box under spare on the exterior of the RX300, and installation instructions...everything just plugs into factory connectors. I still have the original box it came in. Anyway, I no longer have a need for this, so I am offering it for sale here before it goes on eBay...anyone interested?
  2. Well....as it turns out, they sent the wrong front pads for a second time :cries: Steviej...the part number you have for the front pads (04465-48120) is the correct number. I finally received them, installed them, and they work great. The number you have for the rear pads (04466-33050) is incorrect...that's the number I received in the beginning. Now I have never actually tried that number and found it not to fit...however, Park Place told me that it was the wrong number, sent me a different number (04466-33110), I received those, installed them and they work great. So the botom line from me is this: I know for a fact that these numbers work on my '02 RX300: front = 04465-48120 and rear = 04466-33110. Again, my problem began with ordering pads from the Park Place Lexus website...they had the pads listed for '00 thru '02 RX300. Apparently, the '00 and '01 use a different pad. So be careful when ordering these pads.
  3. Funny you should ask... <_< I just received my new pads from Park Place Lexus. The front pads are the exact same part number and pad that I just sent back to them...you remember, the fronts are the ONLY ones I KNOW are not the right ones...I never got around to checking the rears. Now the new rears they sent are a different part number 04466-33110. Soooooo...I guess I'll wait until tomorrow morning and call them back to see what's up. All I know is that front pad #04465-48060 will NOT fit my 2002 caliper that came on the car from the factory...I have no idea what the number of the pad that WILL fit (and apparently Park Place Lexus doesn't either), but that ain't it When I do eventually get the right parts, I'll post the numbers.
  4. Mystery solved...it seems that the '00 & '01 RX300s use the same brake pads. The '02 model uses different pads. Their website listed pads for a '00 - '02 model, so I ordered them. So the part numbers above are ONLY good for a '00 or '01 model. I haven't yet received my replacement pads, so I don't know the correct part number for the '02 model.
  5. I never got around to checking the rear pads to see if they match what's on the car...I know the new ones I received are painted blue. Park Place is closed today...I will call first thing tomorrow. On a much better note, it looks to be a really easy job.
  6. This is the first brake pad change on the car which has 43,000 miles. Well, I ordered rear and front brake pads from Park Place Lexus. They are Toyota parts #04465-48060 (front) and #4466-33050 (rear). I specifically ordered from a dealer because I didn't want to deal with fitment/capatibility problems. Well I get the front wheel off, take the old pad off, and compare the old/new pads. They are NOT the same at all. What a pain in the The original pads have (2) tabs top and bottom, fitting into (2) slots top and bottom on the caliper. The new pads have (1) tab and that tab is too big/wide to fit into a slot...I figured maybe they are now just using a single slot and one tab...but it didn't fit so I guess that's not the case. Has anybody run into this same thing with "OEM" pads? What pads have you used that DID match the original pads (2) tabs top and bottom of the pad?
  7. Thanks very much...I'll give "newlexusparts" a try. This is the first brake pad change on the car since new (I got 44K miles out of them), and they have been great, so I'd like to use the same pads.
  8. I've seen several on-line sources, but I don't know what kind came on the car. Some say Ceramic, some say other things. I really don't want to spend the BIG bucks at the dealer just to get OEM pads...any ideas?
  9. I had the same thing. I had to have the rotors shaved at 12K and again at 35K. I currently have 45K on the car and am about to replace the pads. Because the rotors have bee shaved twice, it's hard to tell the life left in them without actually measuring them
  10. Does this car have brake pad wear sensors that tell you when the pads are low? I've got 45K on the original pads and have seen no light or any other indication. I've heard an occasional slight grnidng noise when the car is cold, but nothing elase after it warms up.
  11. There is a product called "Goof Off" available at Hone Depot, Lowes, etc. that will take it off for sure. However, it will also take off the wax, so you will need t rewax that spot. I have also used fingernail polish remover with great results...but again, you will have rewax the spot.
  12. Greetings...first time poster here with a few questions. 1 - What kind of pads came OEM on my car...in the little research I've done on-line, I've seen ceramic and non-ceramic? 2 - Where is the best place to buy them...preferably on-line, as I'm sure they would be MUCH cheaper than the dealer. 3 - Is there a Do-It-Yourself forum with details on the procedure? I have a '95 BMW 525i and the brakes on that are very easy...how are the Lexus to change? Thanks in advance! :)
