  1. Hi, it is right at the middle of back of engine header and near by heat hose and heat valve. there are two bolts (no other bolts neary by) and the pipe is aobut 16mm and is bent 90 degree and point down. The difficult part is to remove the middle 12mm bolt ... email me at seattle_usa@hotmail.com so we can discuss more... Thanks!
  2. it actually has 5 bolts, the middle one is the most difficult one to be removed. as for bottom end of pipe, you need to removed exhaust pipe to get more room. I did removed my broken one and know how to approach it again. But i will say, ti might still take me 5 hours to removed. but the probelm is how to get it installed withooug removing Transmission?
  3. I had my my EGR pipe removed but found no way to have new ordered EGR pipe back to my car. In orde to drive the car, I had two holes capped. the car runs great but the check-engine light is on... so i have to find a way to have it installed any way. by car shop or any migic way...
  4. my 93 ls400 with 116k miles EGR pipe has 3 damages; one is at the end of top end which is complete broken dur to vibration, 2 wear through slots in accordian or expansion contraction area which from bottom I barely can see onle one implicitly. Since new one only cost me $140, i decided to get new one installed which could last anohter 9 years. there is not way to seal the crack in accordian area. there is no room to do anyting. Now I had pipe removed but find not way to get new EGR pipe installed without remove the transmission. Any idea? My proposal is to make new pipe cut into two pieces at the top bent or end area and find way to seal to make them connected. should work but again, not too much room to do that so i might end up to make a 2 inch long coupling with inner sise 16mm...
  5. Yes, only can be done from the bottom after you removed exhaust pipe (both side). It took me about total of 10 hours to have it removed and capped the two holes and put exhaust pipe back. I won't be able to have new EGR pipe back. I don't think bent the pipe to be flat will work as there is really no room to have the end of pipe to be inserted. I'm think to cut my new EGR pipe into two pieces nearby top of bent area and once the two ends and middle 12mm bolt are being installed, i'm going to use muffler patch material along with gearhose clamps... how is that sound. After my seal or capped the two hols, the car runs great no ugly noise but with check-engine light is on :)
  6. Tan, Thanks for the advise. I'm only worried that there is not a lot of room to manuver. As soon as the weather allows, I'll check it out. i found my EGR pipe leak and after took it off, i see, there are 2 leaking. there is no room to do the path at all. it took me 10 hours and several trip to tools store to be finally got pipe off the car. 10 hours. Later i found there is no way to put new EGR pipe back to the car, there is no room to insert the top bent end wtih flage... so i capped the two ends and put exhaust pipe back... Since the ends were capped, the check-engie light is on. I called Lexus delar - just to put pipe back to car will cost me $950+tax. ohter car shop chars $600. I'm think to get new EGR pipe into two pieces at top of bent area (because of that bent so i can not have it inserted into the limited room) and use muffler patch material to make them become one piece to save 950$... i know i will then take me another several hours to put middle 12mm bolt to be tightened. if anyone like to know the details for how to remove the pipe especially middle 12mm bolt, please email me at seattle_usa@hotmail.com. Iwill go step by step for how I did it... Needless to say the formal way to remove/install egr pipe is to removed the transmission......... but with muffler patch, i'm willing to cut my new EGR pipe to ahve it installed instead of $950.... as I really don't wannt those dealer or shop to mess up the transmission.
  7. I found out my EGR pipe is broken at the end near by top of engine, but don't find a way to take it off the car even though I am able to work underneath the car. I can loose two 12mm bolts at the top of engine but don't see other end of EGR pipe from bottom. Could someone provide the info? thanks,
