  1. It was a coil. One of the reasons I didnt think it was a coil was the codes identified 2 cylinders that did not share a coil. Moving the coils around would not have cured the miss. When this first happened I went to AutoZone, OReillys, and Advance Auto and got the same three codes. Cyl2 Cyl3 and a P1133 code. The P1133 was the one throwing me off. It kept pointing to a sensor. Also, I had somepone comment " Well, considering the codes it makes perfect sense that it's running rough." Well, the search throughout the forums never indicated a rough idle, only a check engine light or VCS lights. Catalytic converter was replaced but the rough idle and lights stayed. Took it to my dealer and they diagnosed it in about 5 minutes. My dealer has been very resonable on prices.
  2. Tried the reset and started up with a rough idle followed by the VSC & Check Engine light. Just a note, the car was running great and, while driving at 45-50mph, the lights came on and the miss started. You cant tell there is a miss while at 55-60. Other than the fuel gauge dropping quicker than normal What may be a cause, the catalytic converter started rattling. I thought it was a loose heat shield or bracket but it is the Convertor. I am havin it replaced in the morning and will see what happens. This could be a second, unrelated, issue. Not sure whether I hope its the AF sensor or one of the O2 sensors.
  3. Belts, plugs, seals, a year ago at the dealer. Dealer around here is somewhat reasonable on most things. I will reset and see what happens tonight.
  4. My 1999 ES300 (130K miles) had the check engine light come on, stay on , and sometimes flash. Also, the VSC lights came on. The engine runs rough and it is very obvious at idle. The lights do not go off and come back on. Codes were pulled and they were P1133, P0303, P0302. Reading through the forum I see a lot of different ideas but none of them state they have rough idle. Also, some say the P1133 is an O2 sensor and some say it is the AF sensor. Any ideas before I HAVE to go to the dealer before it stops running.
  5. 1999 ES300 had the blinking AC light while driving. Turned it off. When at idle and the AC is turned on it will kill the engine. Turn the AC off and the engine starts and runs fine. I do not want to try this at higher engine speed for fear of snapping a belt. Any idea on whether this is the compressor or the clutch?
  6. The AC light started blinking on my 1999 ES300. I turned it off while I was driving. When I came to a traffic light and stopped I turned it back on. IT KILLED THE ENGINE !! I turned the AC off and the car started back up and ran perfect. Later I tried the AC again and it still kills the engine. I am afraid to try it at a higher engine speed for fear of braking a belt. Any ideas or suggestions?? Anybody have the air compressor replacement guides/instuctions?
  7. I had this happen on my 1999 ES300. VSC and VSC TRAC lights and the check engine. Had to replace a $40 valve on the VVT system. About a year later the lights came back on and the dealership found a code they had never heard of. They reset the computer. I get this about every 6 months. I disconnect the battery for a few hours and the lights go out.
  8. Yea, I thought I would probably have to start replacing bulbs. Not sure last time the bulbs were replaced. Its a fairly cheap attempt to fix the problem. Thanks for the comment.
  9. All of my lights work. Sometimes the 'light out' indicator comes on when I apply the brakes. Here is the catch... it only happens at night, when the headlights are on, and it only happens when I apply the brakes. Even when the indicator light comes on, all the lights are working. Any ideas??? 99 ES300
  10. Odd that it only happens turning one direction. May still be the bearing since it is impossible to put the same stress on it unless it is under load. I replaced an entire bearing assembly for less that $75.
  11. What is the easiest way to release the fuel pressure on a 1999 ES300? I am planning on changing the fuel filter and may need to replace an injector. Has anyone just removed the fuse?
  12. All of my 1999 Toyota/Lexus repair manuals tell me to remove the center console access panel to access the E-brake adjustment nuts. My center console does not have a removable access panel. Where is this access panel on the 1999 Lexus ES300?
  13. 1999 Lexus ES300 Both VSC & VSC OFF lights come on occationally. There is no Check Engine Light. When I turn the car off , back on, the lights do not reappear. They come on at random times. Sometimes I go weeks before they come back on. Reading this forum and other internet site I have seen solutions ranging from gas filter, gas cap, to yaw rate sensor or mass flow sensors. There is no change in preformance or mileage. Do I just ignore this or start changing parts? Does anyone know how to fix this?
