Thanks to all the Lexus owners for these postings! I actually own a 2003 Land Cruiser, but since these postings were sooo helpful to me, I thought that I should share a few Land Cruiser details that don't quite match up with our Lexus cousins.

I basically adapted airbish' original instructions as I have found things most consistent with his description of how this works.

The center console is not 1 piece as it seems to be for an LX and does not have any wood grain finish. It comes apart in 3 pieces for me: 2 side pieces come off first that are attached to the vents. I used an official door panel puller, but I imaging a bottle opener would have worked fine. I worked the pieces off from bottom to top and I also disconnected the wires by detaching the connector so that the wires were not stressed as I worked on the rest of the instructions. There is a very small tab to depress in the middle which releases the connector. When putting the connectors back on, listen for the 'click' and you are assured that it is back on.

The center piece is quite different in that the coverings do not detach cleanly as with the Lexus. Instead, I pulled the whole console off the dash by removing the 4 more heavy screws that attach the entire metal harness which secures the whole shebang NAV/DVD/tape/radio.

Gently tilt forward the whole assembly and all the wires mentioned above are exposed right at the top.

Again, unlike our Lexus cousin, there IS yet another RED wire with a WHITE stripe. The one you WANT is the one on the third connector away from the driver. The one closest to the driver also has the same said RED/WHITE wire, but trust me, that's not the one dry.gif;-)

Then it comes down to that VIOLET wire. Indeed, I would not have called it violet. My lighting was not ideal, but it was closer to a reddish tan to me. The rest would simply be repeating what everyone else has already said.

Bottom line: I too have DVD while driving (for my wife of course rolleyes.gif;-) Thank you all again. I had a lot of fun doing this. I hope these details help a fellow Land Cruiser owner.
