AN OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT OBAMA

Dear President Obama:

You are the thirteenth President under whom I have lived and unlike any of the others, you truly scare me.

You scare me because after months of exposure, I know nothing about you.

You scare me because I do not know how you paid for your expensive Ivy League education and your upscale lifestyle and housing with no visible signs of support.

You scare me because you did not spend the formative years of youth growing up in America and culturally you are not an American.

You scare me because you have never run a company or met a payroll.

You scare me because you have never had military experience, thus don't understand it at its core.

You scare me because you lack humility and 'class', always blaming others.

You scare me because for over half your life you have aligned yourself with radical extremists who hate America and you refuse to publicly denounce these radicals who wish to see America fail.

You scare me because you are a cheerleader for the 'blame America' crowd and deliver this message abroad.

You scare me because you want to change America to a European style country where the government sector dominates instead of the private sector.

You scare me because you want to replace our health care system with a government controlled one.

You scare me because you prefer 'wind mills' to responsibly capitalizing on our own vast oil, coal and shale reserves.

You scare me because you want to kill the American capitalist goose that lays the golden egg which provides the highest standard of living in the world.

You scare me because you have begun to use 'extortion' tactics against certain banks and corporations.

You scare me because your own political party shrinks from challenging you on your wild and irresponsible spending proposals.

You scare me because you will not openly listen to or even consider opposing points of view from intelligent people.

You scare me because you falsely believe that you are both omnipotent and omniscient.

You scare me because the media gives you a free pass on everything you do.

You scare me because you demonize and want to silence the Limbaughs, Hannitys, O'Relllys and Becks who offer opposing, conservative points of view.

You scare me because you prefer controlling over governing.

Finally, you scare me because if you serve a second term I will probably not feel safe in writing a similar letter in 8 years.

Note: Lou Pritchett is a former vice president of Procter & Gamble whose career at that company spanned 36 years before his retirement in 1989, and he is the author of the 1995 business book, Stop Paddling & Start Rocking the Boat.

Mr. Pritchett confirmed that he was indeed the author of the much-circulated "open letter." “I did write the 'you scare me' letter. I sent it to the NY Times but they never acknowledged or published it. However, it hit the internet and according to the ‘experts’ has had over 500,000 hits.

My wife and I went to GW...a school more expensive than any other university in the country, including Harvard and Yale. I was rich, my parents paid for mine. How did she pay for hers? A mixture of financial aid, grants, scholorships....and $60,000 worth of student loans. This is how Obama paid for his education, and how people without a lot of money pay for expensive educations.

Did my wife get money from some Saudi king or something as this guy insinuates Obama must have? No. Poor people can go to nice schools too. What a jerk.

As for their "lifestyle". Lawyers make good livings and Michelle Obama was a very powerful and highly paid lawyer. US Senators make pretty good livings, as do even state senators and when you wrote two bestselling books...that makes you some money too.

If the guy were white and with a name like "Bob Smith" this jerk wouldn't even question any of this.



Niether have many Presidents. George W. Bush never ran a company he didn't run into the ground...but somehow he didn't truly scare this guy? We know how that turned out.



Again...racist.



Plenty of other Presidents who haven't, but remember...none of them scared this guy.



Other people have a lot of stuff to be blamed for.



Like Rush Limbaugh?



Oh please. Republicans have done more to try and silence those people than Obama.



But illegal wiretapping and the patriot act made him feel safe?

I believe that those in the Beltway have no real understanding of the common Americans living day to day, and with values, patriotism, and love for country. Obama going around the world and apologizing for our past is absolutly an insult to the American that have made this country great, and died for it. The Obama administration record growth in government and debt is terrifying. My grandchildren dont have a chance. Funny that socialist and ex-socialist around the world are stating that they are more central than Obama and his policies. Our rights are being attacked daily ( we ex servicemen are terrorist, board of directors will have their wages controlled) and the list goes on. We have never been told how they expect to pay for all of this spending. You in the beltway are the problem, not the solution...

This letter is nothing but right-wing opinion ramblings. You could also find opposing left-wing opinion ramblings to post here. Neither are factual. Both are intended to influence and persuade, period....

It is far too early in the Obama administration to judge how it will ultimately affect U.S. history and our grandchildren. I'm a registered Republican and I've realized for years that the previous administration was among the most incompetent and dangerous regimes in the history of our country. The Obama administration could turn out the same way but it is far too early to tell at this juncture. A couple of years will need to pass before the country truly has a feel for whether our general health and well-being (both business and personal) is improving or continuing to decline....

I too was a registered Republican, And I agree wholeheartedly that they are a sick party, however there are no checks and balances in our political system now. The Democrats have gone wild, spending more in 3 months than what all presidents have spent in our history. I have no respect for either party at this point. Our domestic and foreign policy sucks, but given the world is not a friendly place, a position of weakness is no way to address problems. I believe the iron curtain fell because of our strength and positive belief in our country, what we have now is a guy that is apologizing for our past, That is rediculous, and shows the weak stance that is being presented. The middle ground is where we should be heading.
No one from this administration is telling us how they expect to pay for all of these bailouts, programs, etc. If your think the last administration is bad, hang on to your wallet. This is the worst president since the bumbling Carter administration.

You know what we need to do? We need to get rid of all these stupid "wings" and get us a rudder. Outside of actual flight, of course, the only thing a "wing" can do is make the damn thing lean one way or the other. The rudder is what steers the machine. At least the guy didn't call him Hussein.

I must say though, I'm seeing more and more comments from business sector starting to bash Obama, saying he's overreaching on his authority into the private sector. He's got a lot of folks nervous right now, and starting to scratch their heads if they made the right choice last November. I'm not bashing, I'm just relaying what I'm hearing. The whole "we're sorry, world" tour, does bother me a bit, I have to admit. Granted, I see what he's trying to do, which is calm things down and get people to start talking and accepting, instead of preparing under paranoia. He's trying to turn a new leaf, led by a new generation. But, what about the simple fact that we're also the country the world calls first for help when the sh*t hits the fan somewhere? I mean, don't we get some sort of credit for working hard to be on the front lines of repair?

At the end of the day though, if you want my opinion, I think inflation is going to get way out whack soon which is going to throw the balance "what's left of it" out of whack even further, interest rates are going to go through the roof, and Obama will be standing on a debate stage in 4 years trying to explain everything. One guy or girl across the stage is going to ask the simple question to the american public "how's it going these days? You better off?", and it'll be all over. It won't be Obama's fault completely, as nothing in this country starts and stops in a 48 month time frame, but, he'll be the one to blame. And, I honestly think, all the slick talk, refined manner of public speaking that he does, will have worn off by then and created a "disconnect" feeling between him, and the american voter. Folks will be swamped with their own mess at home, and he'll be on their tv, with a preacher type style of delivery. Folks don't like to be preached at, except on Sunday morning. That's one thing I did like about Bush. Even though he was a bubbling idiot countless times, his lack of "polish" sometimes helped him connect. Ok, Doug, fire away.

I am sick of all of them. SW sorry man he scares the hell out of me. I think he is all for big govt. And sorry but our politicians are out of touch. Nancy, Barney and the rest of them need to go. These career politicians are the problem. Term limits is my answer. I could keep going but my blood pressure is getting elevated. People need to wake the hell up. And yes the man could read well anything well. Also I do think some of the "friends" that he has had are real great like his pastor. If he was a white and had a white pastor that said the same types of comments he would not be our president. Because that man is a raciest. People just were so sick of Bush they would have voted uh let's see somebody that can talk well in office and not know anything about him. The man has got a tough job and I respect him and do not envy his position but I am not happy about much that he has done. and gas is going back up so now who the hell are the idiots going to blame bush or dick? Demand is down at least when bush was in global demand was up.

None of this is new...its the same argument time and time again. The democrat gets in there and all of a sudden "spending has gone nuts" and "inflation is going to be out of control", the republican gets in there and all of a sudden we're yelling about tax cuts for the wealthy, gay marriage, and abortion. Same old song and dance. You guys said this about Clinton...I think things were pretty good back then.

To Lenore, thats what my grandparents said...and my generation is doing okay....thats what their grandparents said too. Values are great, but values don't have a whole lot to do with the role of the government IMHO. You can't legislate values, nor should you.

I like him a lot, I like his easy-going manner, I like the fact that he's talking to world leaders and coming off as a little less arrogant for a change (why is it a sign of weakness to admit that we made some poor choices and to change tack with the world? Thats typical American BS that makes us so unpopular around the world. America is not the only country on earth. The reason we swoop in on our golden chariot when the earth calls has a lot to do with the big-ol American ego trip), I like his youth and the energy he brings to the position. Time will have to tell, but if I took that "How well are you doing now compared to before" test right now...I'm doing a lot better now as I think a lot of people are. Inflation? A lot of economists disagree with you.

People said the same things about JFK at the time. Time for a new generation to take over guys...and this is how we roll. Get used to it.

JFK was a fiscal conservative, and believed in smaller government....And he knew when to hold a big stick.....Time will tell, but watch our economy in the future when the government has taken over. Our health care will be like Canada's and England, on a wait to see if you are a important enough to be treated basis. Taxes are already being increased, and Social Security is being reduced on our elderly...

I agree that the mood and criticism swings back and forth depending on which party is in the White House, definetly. One likes to grow government, one likes to shrink it. 8 years of one growing government usually results in so much red tape that nothing can hardly get done. 8 years of one reducing government strips the proper overview needed to prevent such things as Bernie Madoff. It goes left, then right, then left, then right, and so on and so on. History repeats itself time and time again.

However, I do disagree about the inflation theory, and the idea that a lot of people are doing better. Granted, folks like you and I are doing ok, but with an unemployment rate heading to the double digits, over 90% of the cities cutting social services and education platforms to avoid going bankrupt, and a deficit hitting numbers beyond comprehension, I'd have to say SWO, you and I are probably the minority in that regard. And unless Obama is prepared to start taxing the hell out of everyone "rule #1 to avoid if up for reelection", the only other way to stop and reverse the slide down the deficit rabbit hole is to cut, and increase the cost of, borrowing. There has to be a "ying" of the "yang" of all of this money being printed by the fed. Given the unemployment rates, unemployment benefits starting to run dry, taxing what? can produce some kind of positive return? Plus, outside of Warren Buffett, I don't think I've ever heard anyone say they want to pay more taxes. So, the only other source of revenue is in the interest on the money. I think the stage is being set for hyperinflation as we speak actually. Rating agencies are cutting corporate ratings across the board - no matter how sound you are. Investors are starting to hedge in the commodities sectors, inventories are starting to shrink a bit, and the international community of investors are starting to get very very nervous about all of this debt we're incurring. Something is going to pop soon, you can feel it.

Well said NC kind of like the lull before the storm....something is a brewing and I dont think it is going to be kind to us...

We don't need term limits to stop these idiotic polititians. Just don't vote for any incumbent. One term and "yer out". That goes for the parties also. One time it the dems the next it's the republicans. If the elected want to step on us we have the Constitution to back us up to take back our country and our government. These polititians need to realize they work for us. Sorry about the rant!

That's why I've been saying over the past few months that if you're thinking about buying a big ticket item, you better do it now, and make sure whatever it is, it's capable of lasting and satisfying you for next few years. That's really the main reason why I got rid of the Mazda for the GS430. I had very little confidence that the Mazda would hold to my satisfaction levels over the next three years. I've also bought some furniture, another HD TV, and paying off the credit card as fast as possible. Plus, the proceeds we got from the sale of the house in NC is sitting in a "flexible" account that can be withdrawn with no penalties. It's sitting there, waiting for interest rates to spike, and THEN it'll get invested. Right now is a perfect storm for buyers. You've got super low rates on top of deflated prices, but one of the two is going to change soon.
