Hi Guys,

Just did a quick search on this topic but couldn't find the answer to my question...

I have a 2007 RX350 with OE 235/55/18 MXV4, I'd really like to switch to Goodyear Triple Tred but they only have 255/55/18 as the nearest. Here's the DML analysis...

255/55 vs 235/55 :
width +0.79"
sidewall height +0.43"
overall height +0.87"
circumf +2.72"

I live in CT and drive mainly on highways.

Is this a safe switch or would it cause problems ? Other than a slight speedo change (-2mph @ 65mph), what differences would be noticed ?

Thanks in advance.

Your 'overall' diameter is right at the 3% threshold for what you are considering (anything over the 3% mark is not recommended). Your speedo also will be off by 3.085%. Tough call....you 'should' be okay.....I would double check with a couple of tire shops....let us know what they say.

I spoke with a few tire shops today and got an email response from Tire Rack....

Tire shops - none recommended switching, they said it would cause the obvious speedometer issues, but also added that it might cause safety issues with the bigger tire.

Tire Rack email...the guy advised that the only 18" tire size in his database would be 235/55/18, then he recommended the Goodyear Assurance ComfortTred.

I think I'm gonna go with Dueler H/L Alenza's.

I need new tires for my 2008 RX350 and was thinking about the Dueler's as well. Did you end up going that route? If so, how are they?
