Why not make the discloser of your model year mandatory when starting a thread?
Often the answers to questions asked are year specific. Someone always has to ask "What year is your Lexus" Seems to me that it is discourteous not to offer this basic information up front when asking for help.

I know that this has been suggested before but it is routinely ignored. Is there a simple way to make model year disclosure a necessary step to post? I believe it will make this great forum even better.

We can make any amount of information mandatory on signup.

However, we deliberately ask as little personal information as possible of members - so year will not be compulsory - not everyone who registers wants help.
