I have written several posts on what to check out before purchasing an SC400. Would it be possible for the website to have a separate section as they do for "detailing your car" for " things to check out before purchasing used cars"? That way it would be simple for viewers to check out what to do and I won't have to repeat myself along with others everytime someone logs on before making a decision to purchase a car. Good idea or bad idea or was it already done and I missed it?

Your more concerned about the detailing of the vehicle instead of the mechanical condition? blink.gif What exactly do you want to know about the detailing side of things? A vehicle is usually professionally 'detailed' (if purchased from a dealer) after it is purchased. huh.gif

the good about lexus is that they have vin tags on all panels. if you open the hood you will notice each fender has the tags as well as the inside of the hood. They should also be on all doors and rear panels as well. if its missing there is a evidence of a replaced panel. second check all bolts on fenders. Look to see if they have been turned.{paint wear or a new bolt } and another easy way, lexus is one of the few cars that you can run your finger along the inside of any edge, doors , trunk hood etc and you wont feel a seem. The paint is finely finsihed from the factory. when a car has been repainted 98 % of the time you will feel a seam doing this. most body shops usually stop the paint once its out of sight causing this. Carfax is a good tool to start with but in the age of privacy laws they no longer have access to most records. Good luck and i hope that was your question

I believe you did not understand what I was getting at. I was wondering if there could be a separate section or permanent post on "buying a used SC400" just as the site has a separate section on detailing. That way potential buyers or those who bought without getting a full inspection etc. would know what to look out for and what they need to check. I don't have any questions on detailing as that section is well documented and full of good advice.

Yeah really HAHA. Now thats dedication.

In all seriousness, I think the topic of what to look for in a used vehicle is covered again and again all over the forum. No need for a seperate section.
