  4. 2006 Camry Struts on 2006 ES330 ?

I agree, thanks. 165k miles on original struts. I'm gonna just replace everything. Digging around some more online I found this at A1auto. They show one part number for 2004-2006 for both the Lexus ES 330 and the Toyota Camry. (And the description states that they are for both cars ). They are an off brand which I don't want to buy. I'm thinking I will go to rock auto and buy the KYB excel-G's , complete assembly that they show list for 2006 V6 Camry. Great price also at $120 each for complete assembly. I also looked up the parts (KYB struts without springs and KYB mounts) for both vehicles on RockAuto and they show the same part number as well for both vehicles. They just don't list the KYB excel G assembly for the Lexus ES 330.
  5. 2006 Camry Struts on 2006 ES330 ?

Strappedforkash, Of the questions you have asked, I can answer one of them positively, and another with a logical guess. Use the 6 cylinder Camry part number if you go with these shocks. The extra weight of the 6 cylinder engine over the 4 cylinder engine requires a stiffer spring. Inspect the spring insulators and the coil spring seats for deterioration. If they appear fine, not broken/split/excessively worn, then reuse them if the new parts will fit to them.
  6. Driver Door Lock Actuator

K-Dog, I just took + hours this past Saturday and did it myself. Cost $5 for the little motor purchased from Amazon Prime. Was difficult but if you're methodical, it will be worth it and give you a real sense of pride. Would have cost over $1000. Check out the You Tube videos.

  8. Good morning, I gave my car to the Lexus dealership in Santa Barbara to check and fix some mice problems that had gone in the engine, also had the timing belt changed, as well as the water pump and the thermostat - spending close to $4,000. The car came back. I realized the lights in the driver's door panel, by the pedals and on the headliner were not turning on when I opened the door. I took the car back to Lexus who fixed the problem. I took my car back, drove a block to see the instrument panel suddenly turn totally black. I went straight back to the dealership. Furthermore, I realized the command panel in the driver's door was not glued back. When turning on the ignition, the instrument panel lights up and works; then, for a few seconds, it flashes before turning totally black. Could it be a FUSE? a bad CONNECTION? What do you recommend? Please, give me insight! The dealership is telling me they cannot do anything because it was a preexisting condition when they NEVER mentioned it to me once before it happened, not in writing on the invoice or the final bill, not EVEN verbally! Thank you so much for your input! I am anxious to hear from you!

  10. What do you think of these?

I agree with Craig, they are too old for OEM parts.. the uppers are not as beefy as OEM, but it wont really matter..
  11. 2007 Lexus 460

I had a similar situation before. Talked to dealer and my mechanics. The headlight bulb was about to be burnt out, so we changed the lightbulb and it worked well. Dealer was changing $300 or $400/lightbulb due to the normal Lexus procedures, changing from the top. My mechanics used the internet suggested short-cut (maybe in YouTube too) method to go from under to change it and it only cost me $70. Hope it helps!
  12. 07 Control Arm bushings

Hello Guys! I am new to the forum. I also have a 2007 LS460 base. I have been recommended by Lexus to replace all front control arms and the cost is also about $5k. Can we just use after-market control arms, which is a lot cheaper? If so, which manufacturer is better since we found several brands are available... Your help will be much appreciated....Thanks.
  13. I'm ordering KYB GR-2/Excel-G's for replacement on my 2006 ES330 that has AVS . I am replacing the mounts as well. 1) Is there any reason to replace the coil spring insulators and the front coil spring seats? 2) Does anyone sell the KYB Excel-G's fully loaded with springs for the ES330? I haven't found them. (They do show them for 2006 Camry)3) Will the 2006 Camry KYB excel-G fully loaded application work on the 2006 ES330? If so, do they need to be ordered for the 4 or 6 cylinder? They show different part numbers.Thanks.

  19. Oil change

How often should I get an oil change for my 2007 Lexus ES
  20. Fuel Type

Thanks, I was really concerned as to what type of gas to use.
  21. Fuel Type

Polo67, Your ES350 is perfectly happy with regular unleaded fuel, and the engine was designed to use it specifically. Yes, you could put premium or mid grade fuel in it, but you wouldn't notice a performance difference, you won't hurt the engine, but you'd be wasting money you didn't need to spend. One of my toys is a 370z Roadster that requires premium unleaded fuel. Its labeled right on the gas gauge and on the inside of the fuel cap door as such. To not use premium fuel in it could cause detonation and melt pistons under hard acceleration. That engine was designed to use only premium fuel. To use a different grade would be foolish. Save your money for insurance, new tires, oil changes, all of those things that go along with car ownership, and forget about the fallacy that you need to use the best grade gasoline possible in every car. After all, the ES is not a sports car.
  22. Tail Lamp Light Warning

Hello All, The right side tail/brake light is out (in the trunk lid). There is a small plastic access door. I can't see how I can extract and install a new bulb, as the access outlet is quite small. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
  23. Fuel Type

What's the best grade of gas to use or is thee a true better grade than other grade?
  24. Paint Pealing On 2004 Gx 470

My 2004 GX 470 (Sand Dollar Pearl) was the most dynamic vehicle I saw and rode at the auction the day I purchased it. There was a slight chip on roof then that I was determined to cover up professionally. Within months, the chip turned to chunks, right down to the primer. I had it prof painted to the tune of 1200.00 (parts of the roof rack later blew off on the highway from not being reinstalled properly and that set me back another 200.00). A few months after this event the tops of the doors started to chip down to the primer and the issue is growing substantially into an embarrassing eyesore. I see chips beginning to occur, which are also destined to reach junkyard-worthy status, on just about every area that faces upwards towards the sky. I would be outraged if not for the fact that everything else about the vehicle is fantastic. But really? The BODY of a car is its calling card, and to see such a collossal and consistent surface flaw juxtaposed to the iconic “L” symbol should be an utter disgrace to Lexus and Toyota, their brand, noteable customer service and high-quality standards. This has taken a debilitating shot to my sales efforts hauling clients around in what should be the epitome of luxury, comfort and reliability in an SUV as well. I see on this board that appealing to Lexus on this issue has been futile. This will not hinder me from attempting the very same challenge. Hate to sign off with this, but I feel comfort in knowing I am not alone in this event.
  25. Exhaust Manifold Gasket oil leak

The Ody has really been stinkin' for quite a few months. The oil leak is much worse, and it drips onto the exhaust manifold. And it shows oil spots on the driveway now. I'm having the following repaired: Valve Gasket Oil pan Gasket Front main seal about 800$ of stuff. Hopefully this will stop all the leaks. The rear main seal is hopefully OK. I'll know after this crap is complete. Otherwise, it's about another 600$.
  26. Ok, thanks a lot fot your response, I've probably not found the right guy ! Regards
  27. Life Of A Cam And Crank Seal?

Just a quick comment about the Crank and Cam seals. On my 2nd round of timing belt replacement, I wanted dealer to replaced both. However, only the crank seal was replaced. According to dealer, it would be very time consuming to tear down additional parts to replace the Cam seals b/c more parts have to be taken out, so obviously that'd drive up the cost. Watching a youtube video of similar gx470 engine shows that the dealer is correct. I elected to skip the Cam seal replacement.
